I was conned into going to one last night when my best friends since third grades mom was like "surprise i got tickets for us to the Third Day concert!" Of course after a full week f work and classes and little sleep all week, the last thing i wanted to do after school friday evening was go to a concert. I didn't know what i was in for! It was 4 hours long, the music wasn't bad, but it was definitely like going to church. I was surrounded by upper middle class white church folk. I am a pretty open minded person but a lot of my spiritual values are very against christianity and the church itself.
So when my friends mom dropped me off at my car *finally* she gave me a bible, the Third Day's newest cd, a nice card and a pamphlet on sin hell converting to christianity whatever, you know what i'm talking about. My best friend is very conservative and a bible literalist, and we as a rule avoid topics such as religion, politics (she LOVES bush) and she from time to time tries to convert me. anyway thanks for letting me ramble.
what do you all think of christian music? its not that bad.
heres a photo from last night:
thanks peas

well considering christian music is any type of music with lyrics about christianity, There could be tons of christian music that I could enjoy. I'd need a description of the actual music itself to say anything for sure though.

That's always tough, friendships like that, at least I've found so. I guess my desire to challenge those things keeps me from keeping my mouth shut. But that's not always the case. I mean, i respect people's beliefs, but I hate pushers...I'm guessing your friend doesn't try to push it on you?
I've never been to a Christian rock concert though no...my neighbor is a gay theologian who writes for a Christian magazine and he had to review one recently, he said it was a lot better than he expected.
P.s. cool do, it reminds me of A-Ha

yeah, shes an amazing person and we have so much fun together, and she definitely doesn't try to push it on me. I think she sometimes mistakes me though when i go to church with her out of politeness and respect and takes it for me being interested in it. its more her mom hehe

I've never been to a christian concert per se, but Sufjan Stevens has some christian-related songs and I just saw him recently. None of that shitty "our God is an awesome God" kind of music, but sweet indie stuff that happens to talk about Abraham or some other obscure biblical reference.

Heh.. yes he did. It's totally a creepy song, but I loved every minute of it. The guy has an amazing voice, even live. He was on this weird bird themed thing, like he had this one song that was like 7-8 minutes long called "the majestic snow bird" or something like that, and really it was just an awesome jam session between him and his mini-orchestra. Simply beautiful.
What's more is that it was on my campus, in a small hall with awesome acoustics. So the show itself kicked ass, then once it was over I only had to walk half a block to my dorm.

I would say I give you a lot of credit for having an open mind and for not letting your personal likes of getting in the way of spending time with your best friend.

I went to the billy graham crusade at some point during my junior year of high school.
It wasn't bad. Third Day played there, and while a lot of people think that all christian rock sucks... Third Day isn't bad at all.

As I thinking about it, I listen to As I Laying Dying, so Christian music is not all bad.

Okay, now she has to trip with you. She owes you that.
Which one are you in the pic? The girl on the right (my right as I look at the screen) looks pretty familiar, like someone I've seen at the university before.

Only one I ever went to was something called "resurrection" and it's like some kind of christian variety show for youths. I honestly have no clue what it's about because I was a bit spaced out while we were there. I was in a band during its infancy, and at the time the lead singer/songwriter/asshole happened to be pushing us as "secular christian rock" and somehow we landed a gig playing one song for about 6000 kids. I think there were a few other bands there too and they were uber-Christian while aside from our singer and bass player (his brother), the drummer and I were not really "christian" or particularly jazzed about being misrepresented as such.
anyway, we played the show, the song we played was really gay and yet the energy of the people was through the roof. i guess they were really just open to anything that they perceived as "praise" or whatever. i remember seeing kids around the stage banging their heads (trust me the music was horrific) and rocking out.
weird experience.. the atmosphere was too circus-esque for my taste.
i can't get into that shit though. maybe i haven't been exposed to anything "good".

I've never been to a concert, but in High School, I had a friend who was into Christian rock. She played some Christian death metal for me, and listening to it, I never would've guessed it was Christian.

I had a gay guy say I was cute and try to convert me. I find this to be a good reference to bible pushers if only because I would treat them the same way.

Nothing wrong with musicians who just happen to be Christian. Hell, Bob Marley sings about Jesus Christ in some of his songs.
