A good friend of mine just got a new guitar and amp. The only bad thing is that he is *horrible*. He insists on turning it up all they way in the middle of a party and "soloing". Absolutely excruciating. So to remedy this problem I am composing a book of easy tabs for him to practice. What are some easy to learn tabs that I could put in this book for him?

Guitar tabs won't make him good.
If he gives a shit about learning guitar, he will on his own. Otherwise nothing will help him.

Tabs are good finger practice. Plus, it will sound a lot better to listen to him muscle his way through simple licks than it is to hear him wale on it without even trying to form notes. I figure if I give these to him he will realize that there is a lot more to picking up a guitar and start shredding like Buckethead. It takes a lot to get there. I don't want him to quite by any means, I am all for people learning how to play instruments. I guess I am doing this in hopes to give him the push in the right direction.

Just let him keep doing that, eventually someone will either beat him to death with it or break it. either way problem solved.

There are lots of easy songs like.......
I wish you were here.....

ETC, look up my post in the Music section if you want a big list of easy songs 
But the thing about guitar playing is this, no one is good at first, and if I didnt fuck around, and do my own thing, I fear I wouldnt have written the songs I nhave written, infact I avoid peoples tab.
And I think my sound is all the better for it.
Now that I am more talented, I have relaxed on my avoidence of tab a bit.
Leave him alone, dont kill the genius that could be.
But hey, its true that every hippy and his dog plays guitar.
But my music is special. 
(everyone thinks that)

I havge over 30,00 tabs, I got them off torrent sites.
(remember, I dontmind playing someone elses work these days now and then)
But if you really want him to get good, get him a good book.
Or download some.
Look for scale and chord books, and an good all around book is total guitar, by "something"(Terry?) burrows. 
Play acoustic is good to, it comes with 2 cd examples, and tons of scales, with lots of different styles.

Try to get him tabs of bands he likes so it's more of an incentive to learn to play the guitar.

Guitar Grimoire and all Adam Kadmon's other books are really good. Too many new guitar players rely too much on tabs I think not that tabs aren't good sometimes but one should practice and read different stuff if they are serious about learning guitar.
