hello. i got some hpoo about 5 days ago. i was letting it dry out to get rid of the ammonia and what ever else before i pasterize it. well we had a couple rain days and cooler days here in michigan, and so i had to keep it under my friends porch-patio till today. i was going to put it oput in the sun, but it had cob web mold all over it. what a waste of time. is hpoo bad to use if you get it yourself? and is there a way i can just buy it ay like lowe's or somthing where it is all ready dry. or any other route at all i could take at this point? my WBS jars are solid white and are about 15 days old since i inoculated them. will these jars keep if i leave them at room temp till i find somthing to spawn it too? thanx for any help.

You should still be good. Just dry it out thoroughly and you're gonna have to pastuerize it before you use it so that should kill the cobweb spores ( i think , you'll have to let someone more experienced confrim or deny this ). I don't think its as hopeless as you think. my $.02

Yeah, you're cool, just let that shit dry and then pasteurize it. The cobweb will be history.
Aged horse shit cannot be beat as a substrate. I've tried several brands of bagged crap with disappointing results. I have not yet had the chance to try compost but I've heard good things about it. As far as I'm concerned, straw and horse crap is the way to go.

i was thinking that once completely dry the mold die then. and then pasterizing will add to that. just don't wan't it to come back at a later date. because i'll have to wet it again. and i was thinking that the wettness is what is causeing this. thanx.

It could always come back, there's no way to avoid it without cultivating in a completely sterile environment. However, you can prevent it growing by providing adequate air exchange.

it has been spread out on a peace of veneered wood in open air. so air exchange won't do anything.

I meant air exchange after you have spawned and are fruiting it.

You should be picking up horse manure that is already field aged. It should have no ammonia smell to it. Horse manure needs at least a month or two to cure, so I like to let it sit in the pasture until ready to use. RR

there were 2 types of piles at the pasteure i got it at. one looked dark brown and the other looked greenish like it had been rained on. and you could see more of the straw grass like stuff in it, and those were the piles i took.

The green ones are the fresh ones. You wanted the other piles. H poo should smell like dirt when you get it not like horse shit. The brown ones were probably good weathered poo.
