2nd flush...Giving up....

Hello all! Its been about a year since I have been here...Anyways... I have gotten really good at growing cubes, well the first flush atleast.... I I can get a q.p. off just one flush(first) in a 18 gallon container, but have extremly bad luck getting a flush half as good as that after the first... I have tried soaking my whole cake for a day, letting it drain for a day, then recasing.... I get a worst flush by doing that than I do just sprinkling on and patching the casing layer back together... I use Hpoo 6" depth, case with peat, coir, and oyster shells, 3/4 "...Anyone have any tips or good ideas that work for them? I know my poo has more life to live!

Dude...have a little patience. All you're doing at this point is bumping your thread, and that's annoying. What strain are you using, what conditions (light, FAE, etc.)?

If you can provide some more details on your growth parameters, perhaps we can get a better idea where improvements can be made. Dunking is certainly beneficial, but re-casing the substrate is a complete waste of time after a dunk. Once the substrate is dunked, a casing layer provides no additional benefit. Your substrate depth is also too thick. Bulk substrates comprised of horse manure do not need to be any thicker than 3"-4". Blue Helix has reported success with depths of only 1.5".
Try varying your dunk times. A full day of dunking may leave your substrate water logged and force vegetative growth. In other words, your substrate may stop fruiting as a defense mechanism and begin overlaying to defend the influx of water. RogerRabbit, forgive me if I'm misquoting you here, suggests running water over your substrate for 3 hours to complete the dunk.
Give us some more details and I'm sure we can help you out.

Thanks for the advise Wronguy. Some details about how I'm going about things... I fan when I wake, Fan when I get home, and fan about 2 more times before i go to sleep... 24/7 lighting, I know i don't need it. but its easier on me to forget about lighting... The strains im using is Burma and cambo, 18 gallon tubs... I am sure I'm doing the first parts right, considering how many fruits i get off one cake during the first flush is on average about a 1/4 lbs. After I pick them I have been re-patching, lightly mist for 2 days with no light, then try to start it over again...Always have FAE.... I have not had much luck with adding moisture to the cake, but will be trying Wronguy's tips...

24/7 lighting is bad. the mushrooms grow while in the dark. change your lighting schedule.

I find it easier to pick them when they aren't all mangled up in one giant f'n mush block...and I have seen ppl argue about lighting since I was in 9th grade on this website... This isn't my first account... Ty though....

why would they be mangled in one giant mush block? 24/7 has never ever worked for me, just a suggestion

What does the 9th grade have to do with lighting not being a factor mycology? Lighting is a factor...

It's normal. 80% or so of the total possible yield comes from the first two flushes. The best use of growing chamber real estate is to have a tray colonizing as another tray is on it's second flush. This way, after the second flush you have a fresh tray to exchange it with. RR

thx for the advise guys! Yea I wasn't bashing, I was just saying I have seen ppl argue about lighting since 2001, when I first found this site. And as far as them turning into a mangled block of cubes, meaning they grow in every direction, making clean picking and drying a hassle, I have plenty of height to my containers, So I figure why not make the mushrooms strait. I will look into this more though since I am abit rusty on the whole subject
