Incubator Question (possible danger!)
    #601579 - 04/07/02 07:37 PM (21 years, 11 months ago)

I decided that i need to make a better incubator. Instead of using a heating pad i decided to follow a tek that i read on the shroomery using a submersible aquarium heater.
http://www.shroomery.org/findorgrowthem.php?View=docs&doc=136
I bought a visa-therm 50w automatic aquarium heater with a built in thermostat at Petco today and set it up just like in the tek. I was reading the instruction of the heater and even though it says fully submersable, none of the pictures show the top portion under water. I am a bit woried that this my be a fire/electrical hazard. Does anyone use this method? Does it work fully submersed with out water getting in? Thanks all.

I have bought 3.... Tronic 50 watt submersible aquarium heaters from Petco.
They work great fully submersed.

Ebo Jagger's work great too..... used those for years with tropical fish.

These 2 brands are sorta spendy though.....$27.99 roughly.
