 Recommend a gaming system...

Hi,
Thought I would throw this out to you gamers...
I'm lookin' to get a new system, my last one being a PS. What would be the best for my habits..
I don't like sports games, or "map" games too much. Ya know, the games that take 8 months to finish 'cause you didn't pick up the green emerald way back there... I'm into driving games, first-person shooter, fighting, puzzle games, stuff like that.
Which gaming system is best for those? I've decided to go with the full-screen, not hand-held, but I'll take both suggestions.
Quality is what I'm lookin' for, but also don't need the $5,000 Supreme setup, either.

not that my opinion matters concerning what games are good, but i think think the Wii is gonna be teh l33t. they are all going to be ridiculous. 360 is very powerful and the ps3 is going to have a ridiculous amount of technology in it. so if you want a bruiser, 360 or ps3 are both gonna be redic. but i think the Wii is going to be more innovative, and of course, Cheaper! (the ps3 has over $1000 worth of technology in it) I have a Nintendo DS Lite, and it is cool as all hell, and i fully expect Nintendo to intergrate and incorporate the DS into the Wii. thats my humble opinion.
if you could afford it, i would get a 360 and a Wii. In fact, you could probably purchase both for the price of one ps3.

Yeah, I have the feeling Nintendo Wii is going to reintegrate videogames into my life as something healthy instead of a big waste of time.
I am sick of always buying a system because of how pretty they can make it look. I have more fun with most 16-bit games than I do with most modern "technologically maxxed out" games.
So much worry about detail, they lose the fucking heart of the creation...

I actually wouldn't get the XBOX 360 unless you have a high def tv, they code the games with high-def in mind, and this makes the text on the games extremely painful to read (I have one and no high-def), I'd get a PS2 now, or wait for the new Nintendo, or get a high-def TV and XBOX 360, which should only cost you a good 2 grand, heh.

get a regular xbox and mod it with a chip, then you can install emulators from all the old systems on it and play all the NES, SNES, SEGA, and ATARI, etc. you want, as long as they have an xbox ported emulator.

That's what they are going to do. I bought a DS lite as well, they are going to communicate using wifi. I need to buy one of those nintendo wifi adapters soon.
