What type of honey for LC?

I am trying to make a LC but I am concerned about what kind of honey is required. Are there 100% pure honey without any additives that must be used? I have some honey but it doesnt say pure or organic so I am not sure what else is in there. Also instead of honey or karo or agar, is there any other medium....pure maple syrup maybe? Or corn syrup?

just try your honey. 97% water 3% honey. pressure cook it for 15 minutes or pasturize it for an hour and a half at 170`F. theres all kinds of teks, look 10 or 15 pages back in the cult forum.

"organic" is a buzzword... ignore it.  whatever honey you got is almost certainly gonna work juuust fine.  there's no such thing as honey with preservatives either, because honey itself is a preservative... so don't drive yourself nuts or pay extra for a brand that advertises it has no preservatives. :smile:

corn syrup = karo, so yeah that works. :smile:  just no high-fructose corn syrup, that's not what you want.

pure maple syrup doesnt work well.  imitation maple syrup works great because... its basically maple flavored corn syrup. :wink:

theres lots of other things you can use... as long as they're entirely or mostly simple sugars... think dextrose/glucose

Suggest instead, try light dry malt, and dry dextrose.

( think beer & wine brewing supply store.)

Works like gangbusters.

karo light works best for me and its clear so its easy to see any contams.
