Spore Germination in two days

I wanted to check with you guys since this is my first time making cakes, if this was normal growth. I inoculated the six jars a little over 3 days ago. . . and started to show signs of germination about day two. I realize this is normally a lot faster than how other people see their germinations, so contamination has haunted my mind.
Here is what most of my jars looks like, all with the same contamination. you be the judge.
I sterilized each of the jars is boiling water twice to make sure of the sterilization, both for an hour each time. I let cool overnight and inoculated the following morning. Thanks for your help! If it is just fast growth, and not unwanted contam. . . then awesome!

Looks good to me. I've had spores germinate quickly also.
Congrats and good luck D

Looks fine. If you had the jar covered in this time frame you could have cobweb mold, but those look okay. The pictures are kind of hard to see though.

Generally, mycelium is not know for extremely fast germination and colonization. Therefore, if things are moving extremely quickly, it is good to be weary. Many molds grow in a similar fashion and are hard to distinguish early on by the untrained eye. I would keep an eye out for any greenish tint. Based on those pictures, however, it dosen't appear to be contamination.

Thanks for all of the speedy replies. I'm feeling a bit reassured but I suppose time will tell. I thought it was cobweb mold at first since the germination was more a grayish tint at first then a brilliant white. Yet as it fully colonized the place of injection, it started to get whiter. Thanks!

Wow that's day 3? I would be a little suspicious too. Possibly cobweb if its that damn fast. If they finish within the next day or two, and remain pretty grey, its cobweb. I don't see any rhizo growth, thats a bad sign, but the plus side is that if everythings alright as it should be, you have a real nice substrain and you should definitly isolate the most rhizo of that growth and send it to me
EDIT: If they did get whiter, i'd say you're alright. Good luck ma man!

how many cc's did you inject?
cos thats some darn fast growth
i'm pretty sure its mycelium but it could be cobweb. post the pics on the contamination forum and see what they say.

hey, sorry for the delayed reply. i injected a total of 1 cc in each jar, my thumb accidently slipped more in some spots, but it was around 1 per jar. I wanted to save the rest of the 6 cc's for a batch sterilized with a pressure cooker instead of just boiling water incase these got contams.

Call me crazy but none of this seems unusual to me. 2-3 days is the norm for me to see signs of colonization in jars. Some take longer but I usually do 12 jars at a time and always have at least half with white spots in 48 hours or so
