stubborn mycobag
    #5958653 - 08/13/06 09:31 AM (17 years, 7 months ago)

I have a mycobag that's about 80% colonized, and it's being a little stubborn about the last 20%. I have read that you can shake up the mycelium to accelerate colonization, but at this point in order to do that I would have to break it apart with my fingers through the bag.

I was just wondering if it is possible to permanently damage the mycelium by doing so, or if it is perfectly OK to mash it all up, shake it up, and let it continue on its way.

Thanks.

Alot of people use spawn bags for that very fact that they can break up the spawn with there hands throughout colonization. Also if your using it for a casing or spawn, your going to break it all up at 100% anyways.

If you searched first you would see that my answer has already been repeated many times.

I did, but I found somewhat conflicting information between "break it up, but be careful not to damage it" and "break it up all you want."

I realize you have to break it up to case it anyway, but, call me paranoid, I guess.
