5 and a half miles in an hour?

So we were all getting hammered last night, and somehow a challenge came up that one of my buddies could run from his house to my house in an hour. It's about 5.5-6 miles or so.
The terrain is steadily downhill for part of the beginning, then flat for a mile or so, then a mile of running slightly uphill, then a winding crazy road that is sloping downhill. Finally, the last leg is between 1 and 2 miles of rolling hills.
He hasn't done any sort of training since high school four years ago -- he is skinny, I'd say in shape..but not "fit" really. He drinks a lot and smokes. And it's going down at 7 oclck tonight. I was going to follow him in a car or a bike or something..we have together about 300 hundred that says he can't do it.
He also wants to run with a partner -- a healthy yoga girl. Which I think could pace him and screw my bet up. What do you think?
Can he do this? Is it easy? I have no idea. And should I let him run with a partner, as the original bet was him alone.

5 miles in an hour is possible, but if he doesnt train and smokes, hes not gonna make it, he'll be out of breath in about 2 miles, and it'll slow to a jog, then his legs will turn to rubber
but, you never know

how many kilometers is it, and I will give my .02... Luckily we all use the same measure of time, so you don't have to convert the hour for me

i dunno, ten minute miles are pretty easy, even if you aren't in shape. if he knows the course, and is able to pace himself while gauging distance, he should be able to do it pretty easy, especially if he was capable in the not too distant past.

10min miles are pretty easy... but without any endurance 5 - 10 min miles in a row would be pretty hard... id bet he wont do it.. but ive never met the guy so i cant say for sure

Google it
5.5 miles = 8.85
The 10 minute mile is easy but going for a full 5.5 miles over rough terrain, nah I don't think so. Your bet should be safe if he doesn't do any sports. Allthough 300 bucks would provide him with a lot of extra willpower and endurance..

It's gonna be close, but the hilly terrain could screw him. I remember when I was in grade 4, or 5, I could run 2 km in 12 minutes.
Think of this, sprinters do 100 m in 10 seconds. If you could keep this pace(which obviously is impossible) you could run a kilometer in 100 seconds. Which is 800-900 seconds or 14 minutes for 5 miles. I KNOW THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE SO DON'T CALL ME A DUMBASS lol....I just like what if scenarios. So think of it like this, he has to go 1/4 the speed of a sprinter, for a whole hour. Sounds fucking hard to me, but maybe my calculations are off.

Take the average person 5-9 minutes to run a mile, but he has to do 5 of them in a row!
BTW are you sure its 5.5 miles?

When I was in high school we did the Cooper Test and I got 2800m in 12 minutes on my best run. But after that I couldn't run much more so it's pretty irrelevant to compare it to the 5.5 mile
