First Find of the Day



Habitat- Central New England. Found in the lawn in a deeply wooded neighborhood in soil.
Gills- brown attached gills
Stem- A tannish white, about 2 1/2"- 4" long, smooth thin hollow stem
Cap- A conical cap about 1/2" wide and smaller
Spore print- N/A at the moment
Color of bruises- N/A

Second find of the day





Habitat- Same location except found growing on wood chips/mulch
Gills-Dark/Almost back
Stem-A tannish white hollow stem, smooth and thin that are 1 1/2" - 3" in length.
Caps- Small convex, about a 1/4" wide
Spore print- N/A at the moment
Color of bruises- Its hard to tell but i'd say a dark color maybe a grayish blue

It won't take an expert to tell you that the first mushrooms pictured are Conocybe lactea, which should be regarded as poisonous. Spore print will be rusty brown.

The second? Ehh, those specimens are in rather soppy condition. I am not expecting a spore print from those.

*do the latter specimens leave a black ink like residue on your finger if you handle the cap?*

Hahaha, Eris come on! look at those caps!! They are in no condition to be printed.

They appear to be a species of Coprinus.
