Just thought I'd introduce m'self. I'm a 22 year old female from Minnesota, hoping to make a few buddies that share an interest in mycology.
Um, not sure what else to post here, but just thought I'd say hey. See y'all around the forums I guess.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
eris: I guess I'm just fascinated by the lifecycle of mushrooms, though I don't have the means to grow them myself at the moment. Also have no experience hunting, and I live in a fairly urban area, though I would love to try it sometime.

Seriously? :o I mean, I guess I technically live in the suburbs, but still a pretty urban area. Can't remember seeing any mushies around, except for a few really tiny ones that grow in our yard (not lately though, 'cause it's been so damn dry here lately).
Where do you look to find shrooms in the city?
.... besides that hippie that lives down the street, I mean.

I think most people hunt in fields/forest/more natural areas a lot more often than in cities...

All depends on the area and the type they are hunting for.. in places where cyans grow people find them in the middle of the city.
Anyway in Minnesota there probably isn't much of anything to be found in those kinds of areas.. unless there is some rich grass or freshly laid sod.

I wouldn't know where to start looking around here. But I'll keep my eyes open and my camera's batteries charged, just in case.

there are quite a few mushrooms that grow in Minneapolis.
Morels are popular for hunting but rare. There are a lot of little brown mushrooms (pan foes maybe) in the lawns and occasionally a some agaricus or coprinus.
its too hot and dry for mushrooms now. They were out in april and may this year. Might be some more in the fall if we get some rain.
