Growth parameters are in the mushroom cultivator (Stamets). Do you have it?

Lepista nuda germinates readily on agar, but grows pretty slowly. Once you notice the mycelium sectoring, cut out the most vigorous looking sector and replate it on a new dish. Once that dish is colonized, cut out the best looking piece and place it in sterilized liquid solution. Once the liquid culture is ready to go, innoculate sterilzed woodchips(alder, live oak, tan oak, maple, birch, etc) enriched with a little bit of bran. This will be used as spawn to innoculate an outdoor bed of woodchips. They tend to pop up when the temperature is around 40-50 degrees F.
YOu can buy kits from www.fungiperfecti.com but they're pretty expensive. However, you don't have to do any agar work and all you have to do is mix the spawn you get with some new woodchips and start an outdoor bed. In my opinion, this mushroom isn't the best culinary mushroom. HOwever, I'm sure some chefs could make it taste really good if cooked properly. When you pick it, it smells a little bit bitter and is supposedly slightly toxic if not cooked properly.

supposedly slightly toxic,

i think most mushrooms are slighty toxic if uncooked. I once ate a shiitake raw a few years ago, it tasted pretty bad, and it made me sick, i felt nausius, and i burped up the horrible taste for two days

No, cooked, but I find them very indigestible.
Maybe I should chew them better:D
