Colorado River Toad

http://www.bouncingbearbotanicals.com/colorado-river-toad-p-368.html

http://www.erowid.org/archive/sonoran_desert_toad/almost.htm

Has anyone had experience with this "psychedelic toad". It seems like a good investment, but before I look into it further I would love to hear if any of you have any experiences with it.

Any input is appreciated.

It's kind of gross to "milk" them. . and it takes a lot of time to get some good doses - but. . it's inexpensive, it's legal, and best of all, it's DMT!

Damn, that sounds cool. Short trip, legal, and reusable. Plus you get a pet toad!

Whoa, I didn't know that you could buy them online! :crazy2:  Being a big reptile/amphibian fan, I thought that I was going to have to take a road trip to catch one sometime.  I love how they have smooth skin like a frog's.

Anyways, you milk them by gently squeezing their glands, and scraping the poison onto a knife.  It's kind of like popping a zit; puss-like cottage cheese looking poison comes out .  You'd probably want to let the stuff dry, at least a little bit, before you smoke it.

After drying a bit, you load a small amount into a glass dick (or a cleaned light-bulb) and smoke it like one would smoke crank.

They're actually not in Colorado, and if they are then there are VERY few of them.  They're mainly in the southwestern half of Arizona, in the extreme southeast of California, and (to a lesser extent) in the southwestern tip of New Mexico.

You would find them around streams or watering holes at night; especially before and after it rains in the months of May, June, and July, as that is their breeding season.

lolol wtf... you just go around licking random toads? among other things that the "psychedelic" toad produces is bufotinen, DMT and 5-MEO-DMT. and its definatly illegal to milk those toads for their poison. its not illegal to have the toad.

Not true. One "milking" will produce 15 doses, at least (One dose is a ball of dried goop about the size of a paper match-head), and you can milk em every 6 weeks, at most (4 weeks minimum). You could probably milk em sooner, but it could harm the toad (that's right, milking em doesn't hurt em at all as long as you don't do it too often). Also, the toads will live for a minimum of 5 years, in poor conditions, and up to 30 years for the most healthy toads in supreme care (30 years is unlikely, though).
5-MeO-DMT is the primary active chemical, which is ~10x as potent as DMT, but produces few visuals. It is pretty much a straight mind-fuck, not for the light-of-heart. Expect an intense psychedelic experience, that only experienced psychonauts can really get a grip on. The trip lasts about 15 minutes, though, so it's not too incredibly bad if you start to freak out (even though 15 minutes in psychedelia can be an eternity).

And remember, folks:
When it comes to milking, the Milkman knows best!  :crazy2:

You don't lick them, the Simpsons are wrong. They can be found in the Sonoran Desert, in Arizona, Mexico, And SouthEastern California. The venom must be extracted from the toads glands, dried, and smoked.

One thing to consider is that the toad you are collecting may be wild caught. Collecters can really deplete a species from its habitat. I would at least buy these captive bred if you can find out the source.

It is wrong to collect something to extinction. There are plenty of entheogens out there...

This is obviously a BS post, and avapxia should be flamed for posting it, but I want to make an important point:
If you did lick one of these toads, you wouldn't have died from the taste, but rather the bufotoxins. Bufotoxins are highly toxic when taken orally, and can cause permanent brain damage and severe psychosis. Therefore, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to use the venom for smoking only, as fire destroys bufotoxins on contact, and the small dose required when smoked contains only minute amounts of the chemicals, as opposed to licking large amounts of it off the skin. Also, this venom has not been tested on animals in smoke/vapor form, so it is still presumed to be dangerous. Anecdotal reports from www.erowid.org seem to share the idea that the venom is relatively safe when smoked (keep in mind, though, that many of these reports involved one-time or first-time users, so the venom should not be smoked often to avoid dangerous build-ups of bufotoxins from frequent use).

Anyway, I think it is pretty safe to try and use every once-in-a-while, given that the mentioned erowidians had no lasting side-effects.

BTW, how would you know what they taste like if you don't know where to find them?

(EDIT: It seems the information in my head was a bit old. After doing some updated research, I find that the smoke has been deemed pretty much harmless. So smoke away!)

L_Milkman, you own have experience with these toads correct? I have read that plants contain 5-MeO-DMT, so why buy the toad?

The toad is a quickly renewable source, and is MUCH easier to get the goods from. No extracting or anything of the sort involved.
Just milk, dry, smoke.
Plus, it isn't really that hard to take care of (I don't have one personally, but I have had toads before). It basically sits on its fat ass all day, wanting an alternating source of heat and moisture, and a lazy cricket or fly every once-in-a-while.
The only major down-side of Bufo alvarius as opposed to some other plants is the price. These toads go from $125 U.S. and up from reliable sources. BUT, if you are considering buying one of these toads, then you all need to hurry up and decide because they are in stock for only a few months out of the year (due to mating, hibernation, etc...), and it just so happens that they are now in stock (I am on the mailing list from BouncingBearBotanicals to let me know when they have the toads in stock, and I got the e-mail just a few weeks ago).
