Ethnobotanical Garden cannabis threads

Hi,
I really think there should be a seperate forum or at least a sub-forum for cannabis related threads rather than having them in the Ethnobotanical Garden as sometimes when you look there half to all the threads are on cannabis.
If this has been mentioned before then I apologise for repeating it but it is such a widely discussed subject that I think it does warrant it's own forum.
If anyone has a reason this would be a bad thing I would be interested in hearing it, thanks for reading.

Why? Ethno Garden threads offer discussion of the plant, not the commercial product...

If you do Cannabis, you're gonna have to do a cacti and poppies one too, and pretty soon you'll have 50000 subforums.

Do you want the shroomery going the way of operation overgrow?
Also what's wrong about talking about cannabis on a cannabis website?

I'm not in the Garden much, but it doesnt seem like there is a over-abundance of MJ cult threads. I mean, if its not fuckign up the forum, why mess with it?

fastfred, please reply to the correct person.
Since you addressed me, I will respond.
Shroomery has no hand in MJ seeds like the Overgrow folks did. I don't think it would be a problem.
Although I would not want the Shroomery to attract users solely to talk about cannabis cultivation because it may just cause unnecessary bandwith/data waste. I say keep it as is, it keeps the Ethno Garden active.

It sounds good, but what would be left for regular Ethno Garden traffic? Occasional kratom post?

i don't know about bandwidth but i wouldn't want the shroomery to attract loads of cannabis growers pretty soon they'll start demanding a "basic growers sub forum" and an "advanced growers..." and a "hydro forum" and so on...
although the garden is a little cluttered in that respect but it's better then having to deal with loads of pesky users later!

I like peoples points here, I could see it attracting too many people that would just be interested in growing cannabis. It should probably be left how it is, I had not thought about it creating that sort of atmosphere.
Myself, I get a bit annoyed with the amount of cannabis threads in the Ethnobotanical Garden sometimes but I can see how having a sub-forum could cause more problems than it would solve and also change the community in quite a big way. Not to mention make The Shroomery more of a target for the various governments as has happened with a few sites we all know.
Thanks for the input peeps, I stand corrected.

I would also like to see a cannabis subforum there are more than a few threads in the forum regarding cannabis cultivation etc and it would help improve clutter and make it easier to search for information regarding this. if not a subforum, then categories like ODD has would make the forum a little more user friendly i know that I don't post there much but I do lurk a bit and am trying to learn. I'm more comfortable learning at the shroomery then going to a different site (at least since overgrow shut down) b/c i know more users and better interpret remarks etc. and as far as other plants demanding their own subforums, I think that they would have to be taken on the basis of demand. This is to say that when poppy threads take up 1/3 of the front page in the forum and are continuing to grow, then perhaps it should be looked at. As it stands, cannabis is far and away the most popular topic of discussion in the ethno garden, and I think it's at least worth a try. If not, then I implore the admins to discuss post categories in the forum.

I wonder how much of a risk to this website there would be, in doing so?
Peace.

teh 49 day bump.
The ethnogarden is full of misinformation about cannabis. Everyone is posting what there neighbors brothers best friend said was correct. I could literally link half the posts there to different (cannabis specific)forums, but that wouldn't be good for the shroomery.
but neither is all the crap posted there.
today alone i saw a post about 'Whats a floro?' How to make a Sativa stony (good luck, you gonna flower for 10-18 weeks, and then wait longer worst decision ever)
Newbs are going to be newbs, but if you don't know what a floro is, your NEVER going to figure out how to grow using the shroomery as your reference.
We either need a lot more information stickied or no basic pot questions allowed.
It sucks, and my growlog there is probably responsible for a lot of the MJ traffic; but i'll close it if it helps the garden.
The misonformation is not malicious, it is just mis-guided and too much to correct.
...checks garden for more...

cannabis seeds hollow? please tell me they are suppossed to crush when you squeze them!
ah. newb
and not trying to pick on anyone but.
Quote:
Apparently real indicas possess more resin and THC while real sativas have more cannabinoids (ratio-wise, and also depends on growth factors, but I am speaking in manner of their natural habitat, sativas being more temperate climates, and indicas being more arid and warmer climates). This means indica will be a more up, energized, probably more trippy buzz, than sativa with the intensly relaxed, slow-motion, body buzz of sativa. Might be wrong though, never know ;-)
Too many things to correct, and the post is phrased like its fact. Lots of tid bits that are correct about MJ, just the details are all wrong.
Its not helpful to ANY growers, and just adds to the MJ confusion. 'Well, i read on the shroomery that...' Not good word of mouth publicity

We're not ignoring the issue, we just have plans for a new site which should take care of the problem once it goes online.
