Hello fellow Mush-teki's! My casing (60/40 verm/coir) FINALLY went into FRUITING last night! I've seen set-ups w/ light and I was wondering if I needed one, or should I want one for that matter? Does FLOURESENT lighting help grow the lil' shroomies FASTER than straight DARKNESS? So far they are in my dark-dark closet and only see the bling of light about 2wice a day for fanning purposes. If the light is needed/ or wanted, how long should it be on for? thanks peeps!

I dont think there is any conclusive evidence that flourescent lights make your shrooms grow any faster/slower. I personally like to use the flourescent light in the closet becuase it is much cooler than a regular halogen bulb of sorts.
Introducing light to your casings for 12 hours a day is to initiate pinning. (Nothing more, nothing less) I have my light set for 12 on and 12 off. -Me

Introducing to fruiting conditions means you drastically increase air exchange(fanning twice per day is not enough), provide 90% or greater humidity, AND light. I use 12/12 lighting, but others use less and get good results. A couple of times getting light while looking isn't going to do squat. Fluorescent or halogen lamps provide light at the higher end of the spectrum which is better for fruiting than incadescent bulbs which are closer to the low end of the spectrum. I prefer fluorescent over halogen because they produce far less heat. RR

I prefer coolwhites as they are higher in the blue spectrum. Lighting is most important during primordia formation after that light helps your fruits grow straight that is if your light source is above your FC this is important when bringing large yields to maturity.

Ya I got priorities too!!!"
