Nice finds! I found some young chanterells two days ago. The patch was interesting though. Half the area had small yellow specimens. But the other half had small pink versions that still didn't mature at all.

Has anyone ever scene them pink? They smelled and looked just like the yellow ones. Just a shade younger.

What trees did you find your mushrooms associated with?

Hey guys,

Thanks for the responses. I'm still around. I haven't been able to post much this season. Having a regular job has seriously gotten in the way of my normal mushroom hunting.
I've sold a little, but have been giving quite a bit away. I love being able to turn people on to Edibles, especially when they think every mushroom out there in the woods will kill them.

Chants have been fruiting pretty well, some of my spots have been twice as productive as last year, while others have done pretty poorly. It's amazinig to see the varibality from year to year depending on the conditions of any given habitat.
for example areas where I have found pounds of black trumpets, are producing nothing, (too wet I'm assuming) and spots where I have never seen them are now fruiting.

It's both frustrating and exciting, to see the variability from year to year.

I have seen chants that were under developed, dry, aborts. But they were more of a peach color.

TREES

Chants- Mixed woods, and under hemlock,
Trumpets- Base of oaks
Amanita- Mixed hardwoods, (young)
Lobster- Hemlock

I love those cross sectional amanita pics before they break through the veil. Went on a hunt with an inexperienced friend of mine today. He told me to take a look at a puffball he found. I cut it lengthwise to show him the little destroying angel that was preparing to hatch.

Great pics man.

were the trumpets found growing from green moss, close to oaks,or the tree it's self. what is the dia.of an average trumpet,in inches not metric.I soon will find one then my questions will be answered with my eyes, until then...I will drive u... :crazy2:...
I have acess to a woods with a 6' and 7to8'oak tree in it.
it's reminiscent of the way it was here.
when a tree canopy intertwined to darkness down below.
they survived by luck, i'm glad i can enjoy them.
I canot understand why men would destroy it all, leaving small patches of what it was.

Most of the ones i find are in moss patches on ridges in mixed oak and hardwood forests.
