Use of fish tank bubbler
    #5837336 - 07/08/06 11:14 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I know you can use it by putting a hole in one side of your rubber maid and putting the tube in there, and putting a filtered hole on the other side, but I have some questions

1: Wouldn't the pump introduce contaminates, or do fish tank pumps have a way of pushing in clean air?

2: Would it be even worth it or is fanning enough? If I didn't fan at all, would this be enough air?

3: Why do people put the end of the tube into there perlite/geolite? Does it increase humidity?

Wait wait wait... You mean I need this "air pump" in addition to the bubblers? I wasn't counting on this, it doesn't really fit my budget, I guess I'll just have to fan? Or what?

sheesh man, the air pump is only like 10 extra bucks...well worth not having to fan the damn things every couple hours, if ya ask me.
http://www.aquariumguys.com/airmaster1.html
I mean come on...you can gather more than that at the mall just by walking up to people you dont know and saying "Hey, (man/girl), I just ran out of gas out in the parking lot, and I hate to ask this of you, but you wouldn't happen to have a spare dollar I could use for gas, would you?" then if someone wants to take you to a gas station instead of giving you money...HEY! free gas!

You're right. Free gas. Who wouldn't want that.

I guess I'll just go and buy the damn thing.

here is a way to make sure you are getting clean air with an air pump....

you take the rubber bottom off the air pump...

reverse it so the rubber is now on the top...and duct tape that on.

then put a filter disc on what was the bottom...

then duct tape around that.

the air is sucked through the filter disc...

giving you filtered clean air!~

this is something that I have been using for many years!~

I don't understand why this wouldn't work-
take a fish tank bubbler or two, put some polyfil or some kind of filtering material (like the ones they have for air exchange on mycobags, which is what I'm using) on the tube sucking the air in and make sure you have plenty of 02 in the room they're in (open the window, have plants, etc.)

Maybe it wouldn't be a TON of air but you could certainly fan far less and wouldn't have to worry about missing a few days if you were out...

input?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
