Mexi-Cub 1st Flush (Updated July 10th)
    #5833638 - 07/07/06 10:42 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

This is my first attempt at growing the bread of the gods in this case Mexican Cubensis or Mexi-Cub.  These were colonized in Verm/OLRB/and a 60/40 mix from earthstounge that contains: Pphagum Peat moss, Canadian Peat moss, Large Grain Verm., Bark Compost, Crushed Oyster Shells, Lime, Composted Rice hulls, and a few other forest product I threw in myself.

They are inside of humidity doams, they are bout 14 inchs high and you can fit two large casings inside which is what I've done with 1 of them, its not fruiting yet but you'll be sure to see those soon.  And with the second I cover the bottem in soaked perlite, and use lids to set the cakes on, you can fit about 4-6 cakes inside these doams, I have a few more jars on the way.  The cake that finished a few days ago harvested 6.5 dry grams.  A good cake harvest from what I hear.  This most recent cake makes the other look meager in comparison.  Well you can take a look.

My most recent and best work, this is as they look at this moment.
Rolled, Dunked, double cased with the above 60/40 mix.

And the cakes that I mentioned finished days ago

Hope you enjoyed them at least almost as much as I did.  More to come guys thanks for all your help.

Great job with the grow dude. Do you have any pictures of the domes? What was the temperature like inside of the domes?

Doam pictures just for you. I keep the temperature regulated. When the sun goes down, I take them down to 78F. When the sun is up they are at 82-84F depending on the stage of growth. The humidity is a constant 100% they are relativly small, cheap, and available at any hydroponics store. They worked wonders for my indoor growing. They keep possible contaminents out through clever manufacturing, there is 4 slots around the edges that allow air exchange you simply put a small peice of micropourus tape it either on the top or bottem of the slots and thats that, I've yet to see any kind of contamination inside these.

Mine took almost a month, they are known for their slow growth patterns. Just give it time, maybe raise your temperature. I keep mine around 82F.

Keep in mind that cake has harvested about 7 grams already today. I'm going to get a spore pring of one of them so I can make my first liquid culture. So if anyone knows of a good LC Tek good to use for the first time. I'd really appreciate any help. I figure if theres a way to avoid buying spores ever again. Well for this strain anyway I'll definatly take it. I have a lot of botany and chemistry experience, both lab and note taking. Which made everything soo soo much easier for me. As well as everyones help in the shroomery which inevitably led to my sucess. I thank you all for that.

optimum fruiting temps are between 74 and 76 F. This would explain the poor fruiting times. Drop your temps to the mid 70's, but, before you do that you should give them a 12 hr dunk and rehydrate them.
