SPARKLER BOMBS!

Ok, who has made or has seen a good sparkler bomb go off?
If you don't know what one is, go and make one right now! Metal sparkler+electronics tape+more instructions.
I'm just sitting here finishing up a very large dose acid trip wondering if anybody has seen these magnificant exploders.

I've seen em online. They can be made safely, for instance like this:
1.. take 100 sparklers 2.. make a thick-walled paper roll from newspaper and a bit of tape. 3.. place the sparklers into it in an upright position, in a place at least twenty-five feet from flammables. They should not be tight but rather loosely spaced, burnsides up. 4.. use one sparkler as a fuse, the latter end touching the sparklers. 5.. ignite fuse and take at least 25ft (7.5 meters) distance for this size of project.
There will be a huge flareup as all the sparklers go off in one fast woosh of mass-ignition. There will be sparks, bright light and a sizable thermal pulse.
Know what you do and *don't show this to kids* as they will try it without supervision and have patches of skin fall off.

we just use those piccolo pete's, empty em all out onto some none-staticy plastic put that near the top of a 20 oz bottle and use the lid to secure in there, put a hole and a fuse through the top, and light. I've done this every year of my life since I could remember. They make for some pretty noisy little bombs.

Are you joking? Its all the same stuff, sure the prep requires people to not be stupid, but in the end the same amount of kids are gonna blow their hands off.

The dangers multiply like wild the moment you crumble up your sparklers. Sparklers should be used whole and certainly not confined.
The paper roll in my example is used to provide enough confinement to allow mass-ignition of the whole sparklers, and to direct the flame upward and give it more oomph. If it cannot take the pressure spike it will blow apart in a rain of paper confetti. Your device throws molten and burning plastic as a default.
You talk about a 20oz bottle. The Unabomber bombs were 2-4 oz.
It is too big, too confined and the powdered ingredient can be too easily set off by *accident*, causing third degree burns. It will not even be more spectacular - it will be more prone to *accident* which definitely is a nono.
with fireworks, very simple things can have very pronounced effects on the outcome.

Just like I thought.
Dude: we are not on the same page!
We're talking about sparklers
While you are talking about fountains.
There is a world of difference between the two as for safety and effects. Basically you are talking about a genuine bomb while we're discussing what is basically a very intense flare. Don't hurt yourself!

Well it doesn't melt the plastic at all, it just blow a hole in the side and make a loud noise. You'd have to put your face into the explosion to cause any damage to anything. Its not some weapon of mass destruction and carnage as you seem to picturing it. I feel that its probably more dangerous when being assembled, exposed to open air than it is when being blown. Its a very small amount of powder.

I make those piccolo pete bombs as well. If you're not putting at least a few fingers at risk for your country every fourth of july, you're a terrorist.
Wiccan: on that sparkler bomb, how wide should the roll be? Are both ends just left open? I'd hate to make waste.

Piccolo pete bombs involve a hell of a lot less effort than sparkler bombs.
I taped one to the fire hydrant in front of my house and scorched a mark onto it

Wiccan, I've found the paper/cardboard roll is not necessary.
What I usually do with sparklers is take 100-500 of them, and tie them VERY tight with metal wire. I pull up the center sparkler, light it, then run away.
This makes the sparklers all burn within 1 second max. Very intense light/heat. You can feel the heat flash. It also produces a rediculous amount of smoke. It's really amazing that something so cool can be done with sparklers.
The heat is so intense that the metal rods on the sparlkers are welded together.
I've found that the more sparklers used and the tigheter they are tied, the faster it burns. Definately a must try. I'd say it's pretty safe to do, as long as you are 10-20ft away by the time the the middle sparkler fuse hits the main group of sparklers.
I actually have a picture of one I did:
Of course the picture is over exposed due to the intense light produced, but you get the idea.

One time I took a pile of fireworks, broke them up, and put them all into one big stick. It was raining out and the fuse kept going out....eventually there was very little fuse left and I got it lit. I threw it as soon as it lit and half a second later it exploded with a HUGE blast a few feet away. Almost lost a hand hahaha...good times.
Now I live in BC and they're fuckin banned here, sucks.
