Looks like my first hydro setup. That would be a cute product, "My First Hydro."
Hope you grow some nugs, goodluck!

Hes gotsss to grow that hydro chorink's. I built my first hydro set-up out of some PVC, 2 Liter Bottles, Plastic Cups, and a rubbermaid, but I overlooked the fact that algea grows wherever light, nutrients, and water meet. It was fun while it lasted I guess.

isn't that from the pot for pennies method? That book was great for people who wanted to grow but are broker then dirt.

I still don't see what the advantage of hydro over soil is. Me myself I'd have to go with ''soil''.

i think a hydro grower enjoys better 'control'over the medium vs a soil grow.

you can figure out what the plants need and give them exactly that.

You can do that with soil too. Plus, from what I've seen and heard, weed grown organically in soil will taste better. I dont know, I just don't understand hydro I guess.

I would however like to formulate some kind of nutritious gel, to grow weed in. For no real reason other than I'd like to see weed growing in gel. Maybe a tea made with worm castings and bat guano, and then make non flavored gelatin with it, then mix it up with some perlite or some shit I guess, hell i dont know. Hhahahaha

This better explains what i mean.

Taken from:http://www.hydroponics.com/hydroponics/soilvshydro.html

Soil versus Hydroponics

Soil
In soil, bacteria have to break down the dirt into the basic elements of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium as well as trace elements.

Hydroponics-
Balanced plant food (the nutrient solution) is dissolved directly into water so the plant may receive perfect nutrition at all times.

Soil-
Soil is not able to produce as much nutrient per area as the root system is able to take up.

Hydroponics-
Hydroponics takes the desired amount of food directly to the root rather than making plant's roots look for it.

Soil-
Soil loses its nutritional value and is difficult to measure in terms of pH and fertility.

Hydroponics-
The pH and nutritional value of the water are easily measured and maintained, so plants always have enough to eat.

Soil-
Only when you water your soil plants, the basic elements can dissolve into the water.

Hydroponics-
In a hydroponic system, moisture is present for extended periods of time or for all the time.

Soil-
Soil plays host to many nasty little creatures.

Hydroponics-
Hydroponics growing mediums are inert and sterile making a very hygienic environment for the plant and owner.

Soil-
Soil requires a lot more watering, has a higher occurrence of pests, plants grow slower, need more space and constant maintenance.

Hydroponics-
Hydroponics increases plant growth and yield per area, decreases pests and diseases and the need to water plants.

Nice. How much does it cost to setup vs soil mixes?

Depends how all-out you want to go.

For the most part soil will be cheaper.

All the nutrients for hydro + initial setup cost will be pricey.

But the first grow will pay for itself and the next couple. Compounded with a theoretical greater yield per plant

Well the cost of the fox farm super six pack is the same for soil as it is for hydro, if you were gonna use that, I'd guess that it'd actually cost more to do a soil grow, well as long as you use good soil and some bullshit cheapass shit, or unless you bought the soil, or the shit for a soil mix, in bulk/wholesale. And how fancy the actual hydroponic ''system'' you were using was. So probably around the same. But again, could be completly wrong about that. I dont know though, hydro just doesnt seem right for some reason. And for some reason or another, I don't trust it.

hydro grows can be easier to fuck up then soil grows. This is mostly due to the nute content in the water, one has to pay super careful attention to the ppm of the nuts in the resevoir. Too much and the plants will burn and stress, too little and they wont have what they need.

You also have the added fire and electrical hazards, increased electricity costs, more equipment to maintain and clean, more room taken up by your hydro setup, the added expense of bottle after bottle of nutes, etc.

The hydro vs soil debate has raged on for a long time, both methods can produce some killer buds. Soil is just easier for the newbie grower since it requires less attention and has less "moving parts" then a hydro setup. However hydro, when done properly, can produce a crop slightly faster then a soil grow. Like it was mentioned you also have complete control over the nutes your plants receive.

Yeah I'm some craps as it is when it comes to horticulture anyway, the last thing i'd need to do is add any extra variables or factors that could possibly be negative. You give me a tomato plant, and there's a good chance I'll end up with tomato raisins.
