If someone could just link me to the monotub (and doubletub) faq that would he helpful.
Is it true that monotubs need no external humidification?

That helps a little. It still doesn't answer some questions in detail. Is there a TEK or a more in detail FAQ?

I think people want a full blown writeup just like what wronguy did for the DT tek. Thats what my understanding is.

well, you can lead a shroomer to teks, but you can't make him read

You're probably right. The thing is, everything that applies to the double tub is identical to a monotub with the exception of the second tub. I figured it out from Eatualive's original post and he didn't get into much detail.
- 8 holes, 4 on each side - the bottom holes should be near substrate level - the top holes should be near the top - stuff holes with polyfil - line the substrate with aluminum foil or a dark trash bag to keep light off the bottom and sides of the substrate - mix your substrate and spawn together well and level it off. - let colonize in total darkness for about a week until 100% colonization is achieved - once complete colonization is achieved, you can case it, wait a couple days and fruit it or just fruit it with no casing.
DONE!
People tend to make this more complicated then it needs to be.

I notice alot of people want someone to hold their hand and tell them "It'll be OK". If they would just follow basic directions and apply/combine what they read IT WOULD BE OK!

Its a good tek, but for n00bs like me I need a little help. How many inches deep was the substrate? What is polyfill and what does it do? You never open it and fan it for gas exchange?

4 inches for poo mixed with spawn and calculate an inch for casing layer.
place 2 holes on each side of your tub about 5 1/2 inches from the bottom. (4 holes total at the bottom)
then place 2 more holes on each side at the top. these are for gas exchange and the holes at the bottom are for releasing built up co2.
polyfill is the cheap shit inside stuffed animals. get it in the arts and craft sections from walmart. plug up your holes to keep out contams etc.
yeah. remove lid and fan a few times a day.
some people mist some dont. mist the walls with water. how many times a day im not sure.

My bad... <---- not the sharpest tool in the shed
I read this tek and have some questions: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=logs&Number=2815070&page=0&fpart=1
Is that considered a monotub? Did that guy put a lid over the bucket, if not how did he maintain humidity.

umm..... if the holes are getting shoved with polyfill, how is there gonna be any gas exchage? That means polyfill is porous right?

in that tek he says. "I had a 2x2x2' pile of straw 25% manure and wet down and turned every few days and covered the pile with plastic out in the sun. In the end it was nice and moists. "
there is water in there tub. water all up in that substrate. he put plastic over it. it produces the humidity on its own. just like i saw someone say on the boards a while ago "put a wet sock in a ziplock" it traps in the humidity.
yes the polyfill allows gas exchange. it lets it breathe.
no its not a monotub its just a fucken bucket lol.
the first picture in the link mentioned before is a monotub http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/5276282/an/0/page/0
not your fault for asking questions. there is no detailed tek on the construction, care, and growing with a monotub. people just likes to give half ass instructions and say "its easy"

OHHHHHHH that makes sense. I think I liek that bucket-tub. That dude said he put plastic over his bucket-tub, were there any holes in his bucket-tub to allow for gas exchange?
Thanx everyone I think I understand this all now, you guys did a good job of clearing this up for me.

i dont see any holes in his bucket. but if you notice when he took the pictures there is no plastic on the top. if i had to take a wild guess i would think he just removed the plastic, fan the heck outa it, and put the plastic back on asap.... which has worked for many.
