Fruiting Chamber Question
    #573772 - 03/08/02 09:00 PM (22 years, 16 days ago)

First off I just want to say hi to everyone here in the forum. I have been lurking here for a while doing some research and now i finally created my account. I also have finally gotten enough money to start my growing experience. Anyways I got a question about my fruiting chamber. I just bought me a air pump (for a fish tank) and I was wondering where should I place the hose into my fruiting the fruiting chamber, at the top of the chamber or at the bottom or in the middle. ( or does it even matter?) And I also read that you should have a hole in the the chamber to release some CO2, but where should the hole be? Top, bottom, middle? (does it matter?) . I do know that I will still have to fan out the stale air in my chamber every now and then even with a air pump. And one more question, could I have the same setup for when I case my cakes or does the chamber have to be complety sealed without and holes or air pump. Any help is appreciated.

As long as you have some kind of space that allows for some air flow, I think you will be fine. I own a hydrapod, and you can actually feel the ariflow underneath the dome lid. I think if you tapped the air hose to the side of the terranium close to a small hole, indirectly around it and it should be good to go.

Thats just a theory though, I am just guessing.

Killa,
-Place the airhose into the top sector of the terrarium.

-Bore a hole out near to the bottom of the terrarium.
*Make it twice as large as the airhose input.
This will create an outlet for the heavy CO2 to exit.

Make certain that all the seals are flawless or this opperation is not worthwhile and you might as well use the PF Method.

It doesn't matter where it comes in at (as long as it's sealed
around it). Humidity rises. It does matter that the drain is at
the bottom because the co2 is heavier than air(mostly o2 and
nitrogen). The cakes will like it best if the airhose has a bubble
stone dropped into a container of water. It would probably be
a good idea to cover your drain with at least a coffee filter to
keep any critters that wander through from invading your
project. A friend uses another tube coming out of the bottom
and giong into a 20 oz bottle that has the bottom cut off and
a coffee filter taped over the hole.
You can use the same setup for casings or cakes but it will
not be ideal for both at the same time. Cakes need higher
humidity(95%+), casings need lower(around 85%) except
for when inducing pinning(then 95%+).
Hope that helps, Good luck! :peace:
