Killing a Trip
    #5712187 - 06/04/06 06:16 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Has anyone ever had their trip completely killed by an anti-psychotic? I have a drug called Risperidone that has been said to stop trips. I wanted to know if anyone has personally confirmed or denied this.

I've read elsewhere that its in the same class of drugs as Thorazine, which is purportedly used to calm trippers brought to the hospital.

risperidone is a serotonin antagonist, so it works to off-set the serotinergic action of most hallucinogens (lsd, mescaline, psilocin, DOB, etc).

i don't know about the dosage guidelines but my intuition is that you shouldn't go above a normal theraputic dose.

there is a fair amount in the literature about risperidone actually causing exacerbation of HPPD symptoms, but i've never heard anybody report that it does anything but blunt acute effects of hallucinogenic drugs.

I thought Chlorpromazine killed a trip?

I have Ativan, and the one time I did use it it completely killed all the effects I was feeling from the mushrooms - never tried it again though, as I prefer time to do it's thing.

don't orange slices work to bring you down as well? i've heard lots about eating oranges if you're tripping to hard i.e. the tool song rosetta stoned ("...after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal spooning, e.t. revealed to me his singular purpose....")

I know two people that were trippin too hard for their own good so they tried the orange method. They both ate around ten oranges and, guess what, it didn't do anything. This is just heresay and myth, i have never come into contact with any real evidence that this works.

No one has said Thorazine yet...

On their mushrooms in 'dam they have a little notification that sugar will help the trip go away quicker.
