Psilocybe caerulipes - new pictures

They were dominating the population of mushrooms that were out there surprisingly. Nothing else was being found in such great numbers.
I was able to photograph them at many stages of growth and tried to capture it in as many forms as possible. Some become uplifted and get very wavy with age even - as you will notice in some of the pictures. They all bruise blue. Some more mild than others. Most of the pictures don't display bluing because the mushrooms had not been handled much when they were taken. Even when they were handled, it was with care.
I ended up eating some fresh caps while on the hunts. The experience is very nice and mellow. Different from pans, cubes, or other wood lovers that I have tried. it is very enjoyable... seems to be quite unique. I like the laughing and goofy factor.
Here's some habitat pictures:
This picture has both Psilocybe caerulipes and Stropharia rugoso-annulata(left) (the Stropharia is a good edible, not active).
Pictures of them after being picked:
In all I ended up picking a lot:
I have sent out spore prints to 10 shroomery members so far, but my supply is running very low. Please have something to trade at least, if you get the idea about PMing me for spore prints.

Fantastic photos Eris. Looks like a lot of them were growing in pretty muddy areas, just like shroomydan's finds. Was that the case for most of them? How many did you eat?
You can really see the bruising in the ones that you picked. Amazing how much some of them look like cyans.
Thanks for sharing that with us.

After you and the others left, I took eris and Jim to my patch of thousands. I imagine there are other patches of thousands out there. In fact I suspect there may be a patch of thousands at the end of the stream we all hunted Saturday. We may have to wait until next year to find out.

I just ate some today, they taste (in my opinion) like they smell-distinctively mushroomy, but mainly just mooshy nothingness (fresh that is).

xmush - yes, they were in pretty moist and what looked like muddy or soggy soil in some cases. It really varies though. From what i noticed, they like areas with lots of undergrowth. not only did they grow straight from wood (sticks, trees, etc) but also on the ground. Seemed like more of them were growing terrestrially than straight on wood. There could be wood debris under the soil that they fruit from. I don't even have a scale anymore, so I was just eyeballing my doses. I started out with just a little bit and worked my way up. Seems like 4-6 medium sized caps, or 2-3 big ones is a good dose for me. I got strong effects from just one large cap the first time I tried them. It is interesting how some of them resemble cyans.. I thought the same thing. There are differences in most growth stages though. Time of year and location being a major difference.
flowie - they taste similar to wet cubes and other Psilocybes. They have a much less noticeable flavor to them. It's like a typical psilocybe flavor, only to a very mild extent. The general opinion on taste, as far as anyone I've seen eat them was that they weren't bad. Personally I don't mind the taste at all. It's kind of stronger tasting dried though for some reason.

!!! and the Keir-Ruel-ipes( pronunciation check) even taste good. Its's no wonder blue foot is such a prize. Submarine and whale eating can leave a pretty bad tastelurking. Nothing like fresh cow ass taste around a campfire, that or some cucumber fertilzers.

I say kay-roo-lip-pez.
That is ecclesiastical Latin pronunciation. The church was speaking Latin long after everybody else switched to modern languages, so in my opinion their pronunciation is correct.

I HATE YOU lol! And all you other Ohioans too. According to the literature they grow here in NC as well but in my years of searching I have found nothing. I searched extensively in the mountain region (where I went to school) and now I live in the piedmont again and still no luck. I started searching creak flood plains way before shroomydan made his post still to no avail. I keep telling myself that one day they will show themselves to me. One day when I least expect it. The few actives I have ever found where times when I wasnt even hunting.

I learned a lot about Latin pronunciations from you shroomydan, it was nice to finally figure out what things I had been saying right or wrong.
All of the time that I've been into mushrooms, it pretty much has just been a bunch of studying and reading. Not much actual out loud talking. I can spell most of the genus names correctly from memory.. I read and write them often, but I guess I never really say them often.

Just keep looking in hilly, moist, wooded areas.
Seems like the really flat areas don't get fruitings.
Spent years searching in this very flat state, as well as some of the nearby bordering states. mostly at low elevation, with no finds at all.
