i am in the middle of a debate on wether i should get red or white wine to soak my lily in, i have seen both used by other people on the internet, and want to know what you people think. I plan to soak 14 grams in around 750ml of wine, just dont know what to get, im not really a big wine fan so some recommendations would be good.....
thanks for the help guys
peace
ps...how long do you think i should soak for? Ive read from 1 week all the way up to 6 months on the internet, the latter sounding a little rediculous, but i dont know.

I'm pretty sure it is the alcohol that absorbs the alkaloids from the lily. So any alcohol will do. But taste-wise I would go with a red wine.
And don't forget to post back what your experience was like!

Here is an experience I submited today to Erowid :
Wine was made with 20 gr of Nympaea alba in a litre of white wine with two big spoons of honey. The drink was kept for two weeks. Then I removed the herbage from the drink. It's color was bright red with a taste that reminded me of apples.
The whole drink was 3 glasses. I finished it in about 40 minutes. The first glass went down easily and it's taste was pleasant but strong. After the first glass at about 20 minutes I started getting a bit dizzy.
+20 My hands started shaking a little. I feel them very light. It's difficult to control them. A change of perception was noticed and everything felt soft.
+30 I am starting to relax. I already drunk the second glass and I feel waves of nausea.
+40 With difficulty I drunk the last glass because from the taste I felt like vomiting. My movement is normal and I can control it. Nausea has passed and now I feel calm and happy.
I felt lethargic and I went to sleep. From the time I slept the first auditory hallucinations appeared. They were short and from some of them I woke up. The first one that I remember was something like someone was knocking on my door and then fell down to the ground. The second was similar to whispers.

SWIM Is using white wine. Reason being he has been told that if you don't like the taste, mix with orange soda, which will certainly go better with white wine.

You know, I think that a plum wine might be a good idea because the sweetness might help with the flavor, just a thought.

I have put up to as much as a half oz into Elderberry Mead after fermenting without noticing that much of an increased buzz.
My tried and true recipe: Steep flowers in 1-2oz Absolute for about an hour. Strain and squeeze. Fill remaining cup with Red Bull or Sprite and eat flowers, depending on the quality of your product this produces subtle visions and a really good, mellow, laid-back feeling very different from alcohol alone.
