What does she like? And you're sure she'll be able to eat after the surgery, right?

nice idea

for two persons
-pasta (200g or so)
-smoked salmon 200g
-sour cream 4oz
-can of peeled tomatoes
-capers (to taste)
-dill (to taste)

cook the pasta

in another pot put the can of tomatoes. chop up the salmon into small pieces and add to the tomatoes. add the sour cream. add dill and capers to taste. maybe a little bit of ground black pepper. now make sure to stir well so you have a nice sauce to go over the pasta.
It's very easy and very tasty

gool luck

If that's a little out of your field, grab velvetta shells and cheese and make hamburgers.

Or pick up pasta, pasta sauce and garlic bread. Perfect meal. Boil pasta til it's tender. Drain pasta, add it into the pot and pour the pasta sauce over it.

http://www.recipezaar.com/browse/top/153/89/

There you go broski. That's a list of the top 40 beginner cook recipies.

I have full confidence that you can whip something up for your mother that she'll love.:peace:

If you're dead set on scallops and shirmp....here's a tip. Shrimp tastes GREAT when mixed with fresh garlic on the skillet. Now if you guys are into spicyness, you can always put a couple pinches of cayanne pepper in with it too.

But a garlic is a must in my opinion with shrimp.

Stefan's recipe calls for smoked salmon, which is ready to eat and does not need further cooking.  I imagine you ought to only warm the sauce mixture he has presented.  Though I gotta say, when reading that ingredient list I was surprised to see pasta listed - as the remainder of the ingredients are almost exactly how I've seen many people prepare bagels w/ smoked salmon  .. I'm sure it would be good warmed on pasta as well.

lox bagels :drooling:

I was in Alaska for a few weeks, and stayed with these outdoorsy people who caught and smoked their own salmon.  I've been addicted ever since.
