question about contamination while makin syringes?

so ive been readin some teks on makin syringes and my question is:

if you can scrape spores into a jar of sterile water without contaminating it then why cant you scrape spores into a jar of sterile substrate? is there something i overlooked in those teks?

you can. provided your jar of sterile substrate stays that way... which is hard to do if you're doing it in open air, you'll need a glove box or flow hood to pull it off with a decent success rate. making a syringe in open air is also risky, but the various teks developed minimize that risk. innoculating with spores suspended in water also allows greater control for more efficient use of your spores since the water tends to "spread out" more when you inoculate, and they stick to whatever you're shooting them into a little better than just dropping a clump of dry spores and hoping they've landed somewhere they can germinate.

the spores also get a change to rehidrate (when making a syringe it's better to leave it for at least 24 hours to allow the spores time to rehidrate)
