Morels, finaly!

I almost gave up on finding any more morels this year, when today, totaly by chance, I found some in the middle of the city, 200 yards from the certral station growing in spruce mulch. The chewing gum packet is 2 3/4 inch long. There are some already quite dry ones, which I am going to dry completely and then grind and inoculate some outdoor beds directly with the mushroom powder.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Anno is from Austria.
The seasons could be different there.

Wonderful Anno... I hope you keep the cultivation forum informed about this experiment. I was gearing up for months in anticipation of conducting a similar experiment however I didn’t find a single morel so it didn’t happen heehee. though I wasn't going to grind up ALL my finds... geez, that would be more difficult that giving up cigarettes, you must have tremendous will power. georgem

could the low yields of my outdoor bed be the toxins from the creosote logs barricading it. I heard that the toxins thats in some treated wood can leech into soil and kill microbes.

I hate to say this but the WORST thing you can do is use RR Timbers or any other treated wood as a raised bed surround.
Some plants like Tomato's and Cukes will grow great but the leaching of toxins from the timbers will make it into the fruit! As for low yields in Morels I would not be surprised.
