Zomg poppy blossom!

For the first time ever, I have cultivated an opium poppy to the point of blooming!
I went out to check the plants this morning (as I do every day at some time or another), and find that in place of the green bud that was there yesterday, there is now a large and honestly very beautiful flower!
This was also an excellent excuse for me to take some macro pictures. I just plain love taking macro pictures.
Anyways, here's my single flower.
If I may ask, can someone identify what specific kind of poppy this is? As of yet I do not know.

NICE! my poppies are blooming too. They are small like yours. Mine are Persia whites, which for blossoms are not that spectacular. I like how you have it in a pot so you can bring it inside whenever

Ha funny! Not your plant of course, but the irony in that mine are just sprouting. I hope I can get as good of a turn out. I spread around 25-30 grams (store brand, mainly for eye pleasing effects) of poppies throughout a nearby field. Again these are mainly for the visual effect, although I will of course be slitting a few just to see if any significant amount of latex can be collected. I also sowed about a gram of oriental poppies into my garden (usually unmaintained, but will now receive minimal amounts of care), and another quarter gram of somniferums (ones that are visibly sprouting) into some peat pots that I plan on keeping inside, unless they grow quickly enough, in which case they will be transplanted outside for the peat pots.

Opium soon!
The first one dropped it's petals only 2 days after blossoming. The second one started blooming yesterday.
The seed pod of the first is looking good, despite being sadly small. The second one may have a bigger pod.
What do you think, is that one pod ready for lancing?

you should wait longer for that pod, it will get much bigger and the crown will turn more upwards and dusty.

Very nice work, Konnrade. Even if you don't get a lot of opium from it, that's something to be proud of.

From planting to this point, about 3 months I beleive. I'm not good at remembering timespans though. I think it was late winter when I planted.

I feel an update is in order... my third plant has opened up it's flower today. That's the last of my large plants.
Here's #3:
A quick check-up on #2:
And a status check on the seedpod of #1:
I'm awfully camera-happy with my poppies

Very nice
At first, I didn't quite get that those were pencils, and was wondering why you used your poppy pots as ashtrays
