No Dust Cover, Am I OK?
    #5562013 - 04/27/06 08:53 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I can only fit four qt-sized Bell jars into my PC and it's already a tight fit. After placing the 2x coffee filters as dust covers it becamse too tight and I faced either only putting three jars in or omitting the dust covers.

I chose to omit the dust covers.

Should I be ok? The lids are drilled with two holes (5/32) and both holes are covered with micropore tape.

Put the dust covers on after your PC cycle.

Dust covers are a good waste of coffee filters. Use them instead to make coffee with. For the PC, you need to cover your jars with foil to keep the water that naturally drips off the lid from entering your jars and screwing up your water/substrate ratio. Forget the coffee filters, but if you forget the foil, you're screwed.

Well, here's how it worked out...

PC'd jars with lids and two 5/32 holes drilled. Micropore across both holes. Placed lids on jars then the ring. Into PC for 60 minutes at 15psi.

Took them out, gave a good shake. IMO, the jars look PERFECT moisture-wise. Seeds are expanded but not burst. Seed surface glistens but no pooling, anywhere.

I'll update my grow log in a bit. Spores didn't arrive today, unfortunately.

If you have an AA PC (toggle relief valve type)

You don't even need the foil cover.

I do however use use coffee filter dust covers.
It is just a matter of opinion & plus added precaution.
They are also easy to write on.

I have a Presto 6qt Stainless Steel. Weight-style valve.

Aside from it's cramped quarters (four 1-quart jars without a millimeter to spare) it's quite a nice tool.
