Morel Spores?

So it's morel hunting season where I live. I was just wondering what part of the morel makes the spores? Is it the spongey looking top part? And when are they released? Can't wait to fry up the first batch of those tasty treats!

they release the spores from the outside....I think you have to put a plastic bag over them or something to get a print...

Hmmm..would love to cult. some of these.  For some reason my dad has been convinced that they are impossible to grow in a controlled environment.  Would love to prove him wrong.  Looks like it's time to order more spores :cool:

No offense, but you'd probably have a hard time proving your old man wrong on this one. I didn't initially get into this hobby to grow cubes, but after reading all it entails to grow morels, that's what I went with...lol. Anyway, even the most experienced growers have an extreemly difficult time growing morels in a controlled environment. If anybody can pull it off, please let the rest of us know. Those things are worth their weight in gold.
