Fremont California
    #5519144 - 04/15/06 01:35 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

Here are some photos from todays morning hike in Fremont, CA.

This is a photo from some of the Fremont area foothills. In the distance is the San Francisco Bay. The far end center would be Palo Alto home of Standford University.

There really isn't much in the way of mushrooms here. The grass is over gazed and the hills suffer from too much wind so it is somewhat barren and not well protected. I did manage to run across a few specimens though.

Pictures of a rather large patch of Panaeolus sphinctrinus.

Bolbitius perhaps?

Coprinus

Pretty, I love Nor-Cals assortments of wild mushrooms. To bad Nor-Cal beyond SF alone the coast is for the birds; no parks, no correct habitats that are public or easily noticeable, policemen who like hunting edible mushrooms, and so I guess most places along the north coast of california are to small with hardly any public areas that consist of the right mix of beds for cyans, and supposedly i'd have to get lucky in order to find myself a patch thats not already taken or anything besides deadly galerina's, which I easily found on bark covered with moss...makes me wonder why I didnt stop at SF.

That urban sprawl in the background is Auweia's hunting ground and I know I've seen more magic from him this season than I expect to see in my life.

Thanks Baycafe for that perspective from the Fremont hills....I always wondered about that area.

I did go down there once this year, but not up in the hills. Closer to the bay where the newer developments are, office parks near Auto Mall pkwy, Boyce and Cushing....NO, I never did find cyanescens down there, but there are alot of woodchip areas, and if you go down there and look around, I'm almost positive you'll also see lots of Stropharias.

The entire earea there west of the freeway has potential....someday

this is why a bicycle is great.........for example, when you're don in these office areas, sometimes you can't drive in because of security, but you can almost always bike in, believe it or not...around the edges of some of these office buildings, in waaaaay lower Fremont, CA, there exists woodchip landscaping of the the type nobody knows what the fuck grows....hehe.......that sort of thing

Hey shroominDole, I am headed up your way tomorrow to take the family to Disneyland, visit family and old haunts. Should I expect to catch you up in the Yorba Linda hills? PS. I like the photoshopping as well... mind if pilfer one of them?

Not everyone in the hunting forum is here to get high. A lot of people (including myself) come here just because they enjoy all mushrooms.

FYI, Most regulars of the hunting forum tend to frown on comments like "where are the actives," and "will they fuck me up?" type comments.

Thought you should know.
