Recommendations for artificial light (for FC)

Using indirect sunlight for me isn't an option for my fruiting chamber. What is the best light to use? I've read that regular light bulbs are not recommended. I have a flourescent bulb (the long thin type).. would this be a good light source to use for an FC?

Yes, white flourescent light works great, is cheap to operate, and doesn't produce any heat unlike the incandescent counterpart. I use a four-foot flourescent that is about 15 bucks new including bulbs.

Okay cool thanks. You sure about the heat thing though? After my flourescent has been on for an hour or so it's very hot to the touch. I'd imagine that after being on for awhile it must increase the ambient temperature a bit..

I guess I'm not totally familiar with the type of flourescent that you have. If it is producing excessive heat and I mean like heating up you room to 85 plus degrees, then invest a few bucks at the local home improvement store and get a cool-white flourescent fixture, only slightly warm to the touch even if on for days on end. Also another alternative in a smaller scale would be a compact flourescent bulb that just screws into a standard light fixture, looks like a corkscrew, should have enough blue light for fruiting!

and its bright as all hell, would a blue LED light work for fruiting?

I highly recommend fluoro's (coolwhites) 20watt minimum. Cool whites are higher in the blue lightwave spectrum than "warm whites" which are the ones that emit a reddish glow instead of the whiter light.
-------------------- Getting the most out of your casings!, A pinning strategy. Oyster Shell "Flour" $2 for 1lb. a hell of a deal Not what is overlay but rather what overlay is Gas Exchange vs. FAE "We all have priorities. I used a closet once setup a nice little lab trouble was all the shit that was in there ended up in the bedroom that pissed off the GF then I ended up dumping her as she was getting in the way of my sterile culture technique! Ya I got priorities too!!!"
