Quick newbie question

Hey guys, I've been lurking on these boards for a while and finally started my attempt at growing a couple of weeks ago. I ordered pre-sterilized substrate jars and inoculated them with GT strain in a homemade glovebox. The jars are in an incubation chamber and have been kept between 78 and 81 degrees. It has been 14 days since I injected the jars and so far only 5 have begun to colonize (first saw signs after 5 days), and the rest show no signs of germination at all. Is there anything that I can do get them to start growing mycelium or are these jars garbage? Thanks

optimum temperatures for mycelium is between 82-86ish degreees. Try that. lower temps can slow things down.

did you shake the syringe first. i made that mistake on my first grow. it just slowed down the colonizing in the later jars, but they caught up in a few more days. i would follow the advice above, and wait another 9 days or so.

Yes I did shake up the syringes before injecting. I also re-sterilized the needle after injecting every 3 jars. I just thought it was strange for some to start colonizing after 5 days and the rest show nothing at all after 14 days when they were all under the exact same conditions. Thanks though , I'll take your advice and up the temp and wait it out to see what happens.

i just waited 3 weeks for a mexican palenque to germinate so sometimes it just take a little longer. if you wait out a month and no growth shoot it up again.

Ok cool, I didn't know that I could shoot them up again. Do you think it is safe to use a different strain to re-shoot them if nothing grows?

If the cakes aren't colonized by a month and aren't contaminated either, then shoot away! I've had a syringe or two that was really light on the spores, so that explained no germination. I have had one that had no spores at all! (although that is rare)

Man, seriously, dont reuse jars that have had no growth.
If 5 of 10 jars colonized i would suspect the 5 duds to have a problem with them. Why waste spores on a jar that's already proven not to work? It only takes 2 hrs to make new jars, its not hard, and this way you'll have fresh material to work with.
If jars dont show signs of germination within TWO weeks somthing is wrong.

OK I wont try to re-shoot them but do you think I could empty the jars, fill them with new substrate and sterilize them? I would have to boil them cus i dont have a pressure cooker though
