ok..i got a problem..i left a post earlier and no one answered.. i cant hold enough jars in my incobater..i am trying to solve this problem. i am using a big rubbermaid container with water and a 300 watt submersible aquariam heater mounted under the water in the bottom.then i have a smaller one inside that with my jars inside it. would this work instead put my water inside the big one create a shelf somehow off the bottom of the big container.so the shelf site above the water.sit a row of jars on the shelf and then set another row of jars on top of these jars.then just set aquariam heater to 86 f put lid on the rubbermaid with jars on shelf and then cover in darkness. would this create enough heat to incobate the jars? thanks i need my incobater to be able to hold 5 dozen jars(60) at a time for the experiments i want to do -Lee www.geocities.com/freesporering2002 support the Free Spore Ring New Page is Up!! also taking suggestions and adding TEK links to the new page if anyone has any they would like listed----

the bast way to see if you are generating enough heat is to go to the pet store and buy one of those good white little aquarium thermometers (only $4). i personally dont like the double rubbermaid containers. it is hard for an aquarium heater set as low as you have it to heat through one container to get your jars, IMO. my set up is just a huge dark rubbermaid with a large ice tea pitcher in it that i put a nice submersible heater in. then i cut a hole in the side of the container, ran the cord out, and sealed the hole up with some goop glue. the good thing about the set-up is it not only creates heat, but also a bit of humidity within your container. but, i believe, the thermometer is key. hope this helps a little... peace and jah love. basho

exactly. as long as the temp is correct and you arent cooking those jars with dry heat, why would you need two containers?

im lazy and like minimalism (except when it is hanging in the MoMa) so i dont have a shelf stystem in mine. i just place the jars on the floor of the incubator with a towel down there to keep everything warm, and then stack them if i have too many jars, making sure i never cover any of the other jars' air supply (ie, holes or filter disks.)
