What could cause them to grow so slow?
    #5502094 - 04/11/06 12:21 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

How slow can mushrooms grow? If there are mushrooms that have pinned but are growing slow what could be a problem? If its cased and bulk susbtrate (manure) can it just be out in the open? Or can plastic wrap be left on top? Could it be temperature? Light cycles? I have been looking for this specefic question and im sure some one will send me a link showing me how "easy it was" to find but i couldnt find it. Any info will be appreciated.

Many factors may be the causation..including all the ones you listed. Casings can not be left in the open, they still need some kind of humidity, just not as much as cakes do. A thin layer of wet perlite in a rubbermaid works well. If its pinning, you're on your way...patience my friend. If it stops growing completely, you may have a problem. Live and learn.

it looks like 10 more pins have popped up, could it be trying to produce pins instead of making a few grow alone? Also its not in a larger container, it has 1" of virmiculite in botom (to retain water for it to use) and is cased on top. I would say there was 9 pins a day-2 days ago and 20 now.
