On a casing (straw cased with verm:Coir), after the first flush is harvested should small (not quite aborts, just late bloomers) mushrooms that are still pretty immature be taken out as well?

I am asking this because in Hypae's pinning strategy he said the second flush will be initiated in the first flush. These little shrooms are growing real slow but I am pretty sure they will eventually grow to full size, but at the same time I read that leaving shrooms like that will invite contams.


any thoughts?

When I harvest, I take the mature fruits and then give the runts an additional day or so before clearcutting.

There will be runts but there are also pins for your second and third flushes present as there are more than just your first flushes pins created in your initial pinset. The problem here is a prolific first flush will leave few left and harvesting will take even more. What you want to do is leave all primordia (white dots) alone as well as the smaller none aborts they will look to be stalled but what is happening is the mycelium is digesting substrate and building energy to bolt these next flush fruits it can take up to week sometimes but usually 3-5 days average.
