is this the calcium carbonate they talk about in the 50/50+ tek? Calcium
just want to make sure i got the right stuff, also, where can i find crushed oyster shell, it says at a feed store but what the heck is that? thanks

a feed is a place that sells "feed" to farm animals.... i lived in a farmer town and it sucked ass!

that stuff there would work, but i found my oyster shells at the pet store in the bird section.. for cockitiels

Calcium Carbonate comes in Tums or Rolaids one of those, but there are sugar additives so that's not good.. you can find plain calcium carbonate in a medicine aisle for acid reflux I think.

If your going to do the pill form dont use tums, calcium tablets in the vitamin section are a much more pure form of calcium carbonate.

The lizard sand in your link will work, but you'll need a ph tester to determine how much of it to use. Personally, I recommend hydrated garden lime, which is water soluable so it goes to work right away. Get it at just about any garden center or online.

RogerRabbit, you'd recommend a pH tester for something that maxes out at 8.0 pH, about ideal, but would not recommend a pH tester for HYDRATED LIME, A HIGHLY CAUSTIC ALKALI MATERIAL WITH A PH OF 12.5 THAT CAN RIP THE LINING OFF YOUR NOSE? Man, Shroomery gets weirder each time I get on. What's next? Snorting hydrated lime for a better trip? THAT WAS A JOKE; DON'T DO IT! It's no wonder the yields in the grow logs generally look like the special olympics of mycology around here.
blueherb13, don't use the weird stuff you found. Get normal calcium carbonate. You can find it at any brewery shop as calcium carbonate. You can find it at many garden shops online and probably locally as garden lime which is no dolomite-based (check the back). If you MUST use hydrated lime, then, and only then, get a pH probe. Do not use hydrated lime without a pH probe.
Here is an example of an ultra-pure and tech grade like what you ideally want. This is Ebay for $10 plus shipping for 5lbs, enough for your life time. Because it is so fine, you don't need nearly as much as the Tek recommends. With tech grade, you can use it at half rate like I do of about 1/2 cup to 15 cups of peat moss. If you add a little too much, no problem because unlike dangerous hydrated lime you can't really add too much:
