wack job pressure cooker
    #5466606 - 04/01/06 06:27 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

ok i got sick of being stupid i made a home made pressure cooker with stuff outs my house. i took my standard pot i lined the bottom with jar tops to keep the pf jar off the bottom i double wrapped the jar with tin foil the first time so the open side of the wrap was on the bottom the second open on top creates a water lock of water levels. or double wrap it and not be high like me. then i took a metal diamond plate i had in the house that is used for all sorts of escapades and i threw quite a few layers of tinfoil so it had a spongey surface. yes metal and spongey can go together with a little air between. i taped em underneath my diamond plates flat side and threw a big rock on it. if thats not redneck i dont know what is. theyll boil forever but i think 30 minutes would do.... hey screw buying stuff. its a waste of money. but a pressure cooker is more versatile.

As long as the rock is 15 lbs you should be ok.
I think. well maybe not.

HAHAHAHAHA This is my favorite post ever!
I love how it starts 'ok I got sick of being stupid'!
Man, you're a crack up! Keep em comin!

Now, if you are being serious, well... I'm drunk so I'm sorry! hahaha
You can't get 15PSI by pushing something down a few inches into water. I could do the math and all that to tell you how deep something would have to be.. but I'm sure it would be an 'impractical' depth so I'm not going to. If I was sober.. well maybe.. but not right now.

Buy a 20 some dollar pressure cooker and stop being a jackass! haha

Love ya bro,

Well now I feel bad if you were being serious.

I'll throw this other information at you so it can make some sense.

Consider the difference in cooking between an oven and steamer for example. You can put your hand in a 400oF oven and not burn yourself, but put your hand over a boiling tea kettle and the 212oF steam will scald immediately. This is due to the different methods of heat transfer: Air is a poor conductor of heat; but water is a good conductor. Think of being outside when it's 70oF (quite pleasant) versus being in a pool of water at 70oF (feels very cold).

So BASICALLY:
The steam(water in it's gaseous form) in the pressure vessel is 'hotter' than regular steam and transfers the heat to whatever is in the vessel more efficiently. It also 'forces' itself, due to the pressures invovled, INTO your medium(substrate in this example).

I hope that makes some sense,

One more note:

15 PSI stands for:

15 pounds for every square inch of surface area.

It's not just '15 pounds of pressure' put into or onto something.

example:

It takes alot more pressurized air(more kinetic, and potential energy) to fill a sealed 5 gallon bucket to 15PSI than let's say, a seled quart jar to 15 PSI.

In this example their is far more air in the 5 gallon bucket, and that's not only due to volume alone. The greater the volume, the greater the amount of force is neccesary to bring that volume to a certain pressure, and a greater amount of potential and kenetic energy is available. Am I making any sense here?

Bleh I'm buzzed.. I'll try again later! hahah

Mike: You're always farting, and it's always smelly!  jk

I dont know what the fuck you said dude, it made no sense at all. No a 15 pound rock will not keep the top on, think about it, 15PSI means 15 pounds per square inch.... so youd need more like a 200lb rock. lol this is the most retarted idea ive ever heard, this thing is gonna blow up in your face. Good luck making a tin foil pressure seal LOL OMG DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
