How do DJ's make Trance?

This is prob a lame question but how do these people make trance? Do they use computer programs? Do you have to buy turn tables and sound boards?
I once goofed with a program called fruity loops, but it sounded like a midi file. My "music" sounded great but it still sounded like a damn midi file. =/
Anyway, does anyone know?

You would probably get the best sounds from using both of those things. Live DJ's just a sound board and stuff I think.

Here's something I made with fruity loops whilst coming down off shrooms.

Nope, that sounds normal. I don't know what I did wrong haha. I wonder how people get started into making trance...

Sounds like you didn't use the different effects like reverb etc. If you dont distort/manipulate the sounds the finished result sounds kind of flat.

Yeah it was just a trial version and I didn't try to hard. I guess I'll snoop around for this "reason" program.

Nothing much more complicated than a drum machine.
Trance can be created with no musical instruments and no musical talent. All it needs is somebody to set up the program that generates it. Give it 10 years, and you won't even need a person to make it, you can ask a robot to whip up a trance track

Dj's and producers are totaly different.
Djs use a set of turntables/CDJ's and a mixer to blend music together for a group of people to dance too.
Producers are the ones who are actually making the tracks. You usually need a PC or MAC. A sequencer program such as cubase SX 3, Reason 3.0, protools, Logic, or Fruity Loops. Then you need some good synthesizers that are good for trance such as a Nordlead 3, Roland Jp8000 (or 8080), Roland juno series, Access Virus series, or waldorf series. Then you just record and organize your recordings with your sequencers software. Theres really alot more to it but thats just the basics of it.

friends dont let friends produce trance. Try listening to some good dance music like house or dnb.

I don't understand. Can you give me an example of old "good" trance and new "happy clubber shit"?
