Dirt & Shrooms

I just wanna know if i could just mix dirt, grass, rice, wood, and maby some flour togeather and just trow it behind my house and let it grow... i would leave a pasta plate or somthing on top of it to keep the light off of it but keep it warm. Do you people think this will work?

How do you plan to regulate what grows there? Just gonna cross your fingers and hope some mushrooms spores land there? You gonna squirt some spores on it yourself? And how do you plan on stopping every other spore from germinating there? How you gonna keep the hummidity and temps in the right ranges?
Crops can be grown out doors... But theres more to it than tossing a few random ingredients out in your backyard and waiting.

It is possible to grow mushrooms outdoors, you just have to do it right. What type are you trying to grow? And what kind of weather is in your area? I can give you some steps to get you going, but if you arent growing for bulk purposes... its not such a good idea. You cannot just squirt some spores under a plate and cross fingers, though. Its not hard, and I recommend outdoor growing. After all, mushrooms are from the "outdoors"!

Not a good strain for that area!!! BUT...

Cyanescens or Azurescens may be a better choice. I have seen patches in Seattle grown on sawdust spawn and wood chips. But if you have no experience in preparing this, I wouldnt suggest trying that until you know what you are doing. I know their overall temps from spawn to fruiting for Cyanescens is in between 45 and 75 degrees F. And you would have to use a wooden frame for the bed. You can use grain spawn half and half with sawdust and wood chips for an outdoor bed. Dude, its kinda complex, get Stamets books. They have all the info you need. Knowledge is power, you know. But I hope I pointed you in the right direction!

You wouldnt beleive how many ignorant people there are in the world.. I remember this guy that used to go to my school just squirted some spores onto some dog shit and expected shrooms.. lol..
