A Little Fruiting Chamber Advice Please
    #5382742 - 03/09/06 07:42 PM (18 years, 24 days ago)

I have 3 half pint jars and 12 1/4 pint jars that will be ready for birthing in the next couple of days. Unfortunately, I've got to go out of town next week and will be gone for 4 days. I haven't built a terrarium yet and would like advice on the best way to proceed.

I was originally going to go with an ultrasonic humidifier, but it would need refilling whilst I was gone. The perlite method seems promising, but I'm worried that the CO2 build up in 4 days would be bad. If there is a method I can use that will allow me to leave my farm for 4 days without maintenance please let me know!

If I have to wait to birth the jars until I get back, they will have been in the jars around 8 or 9 days after they were completely white. Would this be harmful? They are probably ready now, as there is an extensive root structure growing in most of them...

Just wait to birth them till you get back. No harm in a little overcolonization of cakes.

What can I expect from overcolonization? Will it affect the time it takes for fruiting? If there is anything at all bad associated with overcolonization, I could lower the temp I'm storing the jars at.

Pretty much the more colinization, the better. You're fine.
