Anyone grow hot chili peppers here?

I'm just after some strain recommendations really.
I like a lot of heat but I don't want a plant that just yields 1 or 2 hot peppers.
Anyone got any recommendations on high yielding plants?

serrano, habanero, jalapeno, cow horns, scotch bonnets, a great deal of it is determined by how you grow them, and pollination, add plants that attract incects for pollination ot manualy polinate the plants

I've grown a couple back when I was a kid. I did nothing but watering them and got 100+ off two plants. I think they were known as "chinese peppers".

Serrano is my favorite. You get lots of little peppers that are plenty hot for any sane person. If you want really hot peppers, try those ornamental peppers with the fruits that point up.
The first time I saw those at Lowe's, I didn't know if they were hot, so i picked one, chomped it, and almost died. Those fuckers are hot!
As a general rule, the smaller and more brightly colored chillies will be the hottest. The hottest peppers I have ever encountered were about twice the size of a pencil eraser and bright purple.

piquin peppers are some serious little bastards, they tend to be the 'ornamentals' that everyone grows

Well, I've got some Habanero, Scotch Bonnet, Fresno and wild African Birds Eyes on the go at the moment (only just germinated).
The Habanero and Scotch Bonnet are supposed to be extremely hot but I've seen a few pics where its just 4 or 5 growing on a plant.
I'd prefer to have hundreds of tiny hot peppers as opposed to 4 or 5 larger peppers...

This is my first attempt at hot peppers although I've grown sweet peppers before. I used a good free draining compost with a thin layer of verm on top.
Anyone grown NuMex Twilight? They look cool as fuck! Supposedly pretty hot too!

I've grown green chile, cayanne, jalepeno, and scotch bonnets. Those Scotch Bonnets hurt!! I was also surprised at how hot fresh cayanne is... nothing like the dried store bought stuff at all, waaay hotter.

Heres a question for guys out there, I remember reading somewhere that using seeds from fruit for commercial production was not as reliable as starting from store bought, any truth to this.
The reason I ask is that I am planning on farming hot peppers this year on a small commercial scale and have loads of pepper seeds from previous years crops. Should I chance my crop with these seeds or just bite the bullet and buy new ones. I would like to save the money if I could. Here are some pics to judge from. Thanks in advance
A couple different varieties, mostly cayenne though, also the small ones if anyone has an idea on what they are that would be great. An old customer of mine had a large plant growing in his living room and one day gave me a good handul.
Bag on left is from 2003 and right from 04
2004 crop

Capsicum chinense "Red Savina Habanero"
These are the hottest pepper-strain you can get with relative ease. They can be hotter than police strength pepper spray so a little goes a LONG way, yet they have a fresh fruity taste amidst the blistering heat.
Any pepper that looks like a small crumpled-up paprika (red, orange, yellow) is a Capsicum chinense and all are so hot that they make baby Jesus cry
Scotch bonnet is one too, as is any Habanero. I don't grow 'em but if I would it would be Red Savinas

I used to grow all kinds of peppers. Habinaro(sp?) to Jalapeno to whatever else... the names seem to escape me at the moment. there's nothing like a nice home grown pepper though. They were always hotter home grown too lol. It's been years since I've done it.

If you are growing an heirloom variety, you will be fine using your own seed. These have been stabilized over many generations. The problems arise when you try to grow from first or second generation hybrids. They often revert back to undesirable phenotypes.
