Suspected psychoactive Pluteus mushroom.
    #534096 - 01/28/02 02:50 PM (22 years, 1 month ago)

Hey folks,

Well here are two pictures of a single mushroom.

Habitat: Directly from cow dung
Local: South-west Florida
Date: Mid-January
Spores: Pinkish
Comments:
-The gills as you can see are Pinkish, as was the spore print it rendered.
-The mycelium at the base of the stem slowly stained bluish-green.

An extra note about the pictures:
I used a 35mm color film camera in the field,
-then took a digital picture of the developed film.

And there you have it.

Interesting. It looks like a Pluteus and the bluing points to an active species, but I have never heard of a Pluteus on cow dung. I thought they were an exclusively wood decomposing species. It looks worthwhile and cultivatible. What were the outdoor temps?

No luck yet on the Pan casters. I thought they would be easy to grow, but I must be missing some key element to induce pinning. The mycelium blues though.

Workman,

I forgot to note the Size of the mushroom.

Diameter of the cap is about the size of a 25cent piece.

The bluing was clearly evident to me.
-Although, it tended to fade more blue/green in color.

I dried and saved this one single specimen.

Temps were on average 60 at night & 80's during the day.
Great Florida winter weather basically,
We were finding pounds of copes and cubes for weeks already.

The shroom was indeed growing directly from a piece of cow dung.
-It came off very effortlessly compared to other mushrooms that ive seen on manure.

But Enough of that, So youve Actually got the Pan Caster mycelium!!!!
Ahhgg, that is just incredible.
And it Blues.

..I'll tell you everything i know about that mushroom,
in an email - cause ill go on forever about those. =)

I think i did just go on forever,

Shroom on,

This is very strange. Pluteus species are woodlovers and the only known active pluteus species (Sallicinus I think) doesn't look like that.
It is estimated that there are still many undiscovered species and this could be one of them...
You should try to cultivate it...

There are actually six species of Pluteus and yes it is a wood-loving shroom. However it grows in cold weather seasons and not tropical or semi-tropical such as Florida.

It could hav been on woodchips and grew up through manure./

In Seattle, I have observed Panaeolus subbalteatus growing from mulch, but I believe that the spores and mycellium are in the topsoil under the mulch.

There are pictures posted at my site of the subs and pluteus.

Also it is a very large shroom the size of average Agaricus campestris or A. bisporus.

have a shroomy day.

Why such crappy pictures? Smells like bullshit. Why do you insit on bullshiting? You are not finding pounds of copes or cubes either. Your very lucky if you find any, in the wild, at this time of year anywhere in Florida. Wood and shit are quite a bit different. you should be meticulous otherwise one can build a description of things that aren't and that is one reason why people become poisoned. Snap out of it. There is a lot of kids on here that think you know what you are talking about.

Rungi obviously you have no fucking clue who GG is. If you search the previous posts in this forum, you will find many pictures of his finds. It wouldn't supprised me one bit to find out that his knowledge on mushrooms surpasses your by far. Don't be so quick to judge next time.

A word of advise: the moderator of a forum usaly knows what he is talking about.

Think before you speak.

who can't walk in a field in Fl and pic copious amounts of cubensis there very easy to find and identify. (but not in January, they are possible to find but very few) However, I believe the pleurotus pictures are bull shit. You should admit it too. Just admit it.

Jesus christ, you really are as stupid as you sound.

What part of Suspected psychoactive Pleatus don't you understand? Do you need the definition of suspected?

Do you live in Flordia? Where? Have you ever found Ps. cubensis?

Grow a brain, dork.

Hi rungi,

Well i am now in hong kong china with my girlfriend Anne.

-Dont anyone tell Anne, but yes i did go out into the fields without her, oh about 3 days ago, in southwest florida and i was indeed finding Cubensis.

Reason being is that the Shroom WIzard of Jacksonville Fla, asked if the cubes had gone away with the weather like they had up there.
No they didnt.
Theyre still there even as i live and breath in hong chong.

Keep on shroomin,
..you sorta suck.

Gumby Dude,

I gotta admit, these pictures look more like a unidentified flying object than they do mushroom.

-Anyhow, if rungi took the time to read all of my post here he would have read that the reason the picture quality sucks so much is that i was out in the field with anne, and i was instead using my 35mm film camera and not my usual digital.
-So i got the pics developed, then i had to use my digital cam to take another picture and get them on the shroomery.

-I showed the mushroom to anne and she also said she saw blue/green at the base of the stem.
I wouldnt have taken pictures of this mushroom had it not been bluegreen.

Keep sharoomin,
GGreatOne

next thing i will you will be calling me bin laden,
hi, i am in Alaska now, but will be heading to the north pole do investigate some manure from polar bears, do you thing this would be a good place to look? for cubes and pluetus. Sorry for the previous mispelling damb, oysters mushrooms taste great. "Indeed" "In fact" "true", cubes can be found at this time of year(very few in the wild in FL) but, that beloved pluetus you wish for don't grow in alligator shit and i don't care what color your eyes call blue green. I can close my eyes and see whatever i want and so can you. thats what makes mushrooms so great. Azures still grow now cant be plate fart.
