excuse me if u cant understand htis, but i am fucked up. i ordered a mushroom grow bag off of the internet and i received it 2 days ago. i injected the spores, and put it in a dark warm place. the bag came rolled up. i unrolled the bag but there is no open space above the grow medium (dont know the right word for it). should i try and open the bag so that there is space above it for when the mushies start growing? its been 2 days and there is no mycelium growth yet. should i be concerned?
any input will be greatly appreciated.

2 days? No, I wouldn't be worried at all. Some bags won't show any growth for 14 days or so. If you mean that the bag seems like it has no air in it, don't worry about that either. The bags normally begin to fill themselves as the growing myc releases gases.

Hey Foo, I'm thinking about doing something similar, how's the gas exchange in those bags? Seems like CO2 buildup would be an issue (though I know people do it).

I thought grow bags came with filter patches on them, allowing for gas exchange?
Couldn't you simply pull the bag apart to draw in air and push it together to expunge air.
Correct me if my assumptions are wrong.

I'm not too sure how it all works in technical terms, but it seems like the CO2 regulates itself within the bag. I like to case the substrate in the bags or spawn to poo, but they will fruit invitro:

Don't cut the bag open, inoculate with a dirty syringe, or rip the filter off and you should be OK! The bags keep out nasties really well.

Like anything else, it all depends. I never weighed my harvests when I used the bags, so I couldn't tell you an exact number. I will tell you that they work better crumbled and cased.

2 days? you gotta wait longer than that. I'm using bags at the moment cause i live in student halls and don't have the means to do a decent setup, although that will change in 3 months!(woo). anyway, one of my latest bags took 21 days to show the tiniest sign of growth and that was wtiht he temp in my room turned off! been sweating my ass off for three weeks now!

ok i was wondering is it ok to do the first flush in the bag then for then next flushes case it or is risk of conatmination to high i was thinking of using jiffy mix it that i dont really have a fruiting camber so i think i might just do all the flushes in the bag and dunk the mycileum with distiled water then pour it out and tape bag shut till it needs to be picked again good idea or bad

I have had it take 10 days for signs of growth. If your temp isn't in a nice constant range(such as colder at night and warmer during the day) it will cause it to take much longer.
I wouldn't worry untill it is a month later and it stinks like shit

Apparently you haven't read the answers you were given already. It has only been 3 days since your last post on this. If you don't have some patience, I don't think bags are the way to go for you. I would get an LC going and noc up some whole grains to either case or spawn to poo. The best thing to do with bags is to toss them in the closet and forget about them for a month.
