LC Mycellium question

Ok, so this has been a pretty cool day since Ive birthed my first cake AND I havent noticed any more growt on my 12 day old LC jar so Im supposing its ready... My question is... Can I use this mycellium to start another LC? And Ive noticed hundreds of little black dots within the mycellium... Im assuming this are spores... Am I right? And if not does this mean contam?

Im having such a hard time pulling liquid solution into my syringe... I think my needle is to thin :frown:

Yes you can transfer LC to make a LC. :thumbup:

I'd also like to know if his LC is contaminated. I'm starting my first LC when my spores arrive...

You can make a few test runs.

Using a petri dish, or a small jar of WBS or PF

I thought those black dots where spores too, turned out to be a really nasty dusty
green mold that was quick, covered cakes in about 3 days, didn't fruit for shit though.
I would test it first on one cake... otherwise you do what i did, 30 cakes, 7 jars of birdseed
and 12 jars of rye... down the toilet.

Yes, the little black spots are spores. I haven't had a contam yet, so I can't really tell you what they look like in an LC, but I've hear that the water will be "foggy" as opposed to having blobs and strings of myc floating around.

After reading your original post a second time, the black dots may be some kind of contam if you have hundreds of them, unless you used a shitload of spores to inoculate the LC in the first place. I agree with these guys that you should do a test run with this LC or anything else you are using to inoculate that you aren't sure of.

^yeah, it might not be, but if there was a little then it could be carbon from the needle if you used a lighter
