THE california burrito

Here's a burrito that was created right here in San Diego...and it is the absolute best burrito you'll ever have in your life. I swear by it.
Not many people outside of california know what a real Cali burrito is...so here's how to make one.
Tortilla. Get the big ones. The fattier the tortilla, the better.
Carne Asada. Basically mexican steak.
Cheddar and Jack Cheese.
Sour cream.
Finally, the ingridient that makes this burrito what it is...FRENCH FRIES.
Put it all together and you'll have one of the best burritos known to man. I usually pick these up at hole in the wall family owned mexican resturants for 4 or 5 bucks a piece.
Lemme know what you think.

i preferr the thinner, gummier tortilla, the kind that stretches a little, nice and soft and easy to bite into.
french fries are good, although i preferr it when they put in roasted potatoe wedges. Oh and I also add wedges of avocadoes inside.

Florida burritos lack in comparison to the true California burrito.
Why? Because it just does.

Go to any little taco shop and order the california burrito.
It's huge in Southern California....

> Honestly Ive lived in california all my life and dont know what you are talking about.
Haha, don't feel bad bro - I didn't know about 'em for the first 18 years that I lived in California
To date, I still haven't seen 'em sold here in the Los Angeles area -- though no doubt a seasoned taco shop would likely know it by name and be able to prepare it for you. San Diego is where I found 'em, and still the only place I see 'em. Truth be told, I think the San Diego burrito scene leaves much to be desired. Seems they overemphasize the "California burrito" alongside the "all meat burrito" - both of which I don't much care for. I like a little bit o' lard fried beans in there and pico de gallo, cheese baby~ and the meat, the meat better be moist and delicious! All too often I've found these mainstreet taco shops featuring chewy or lackluster-in-flavor meat products.. forcing one to flood the damn thing in hot sauce. Which is great, lord knows I love hot sauce, but the meat should be able to stand alone in deliciousness ya know?
Allright I'll step off this damn soap box now. In conclusion, THE california burrito is nothing to exclaim about... UNLESS, it's 3am and you've got the mad stoner munchies with nothin' in the fridge. Then, the california burrito can be a godsend
PS. If ever find yourself in San Diego thinkin' about pickin' one of these up, Do yourself a favor and take the 30 mile trek into Tj to get some o' the best flavored meat tacos this world has to offer! (3 for a buck and beers 99c a piece)
THE REAL DEAL

Roberto's Carne Asada Fries > *
Although they always give me the shitskeys.
But yeah, California Burrito is predominantly a San Diego thing. I never knew about them, living in Los Angeles untill I went down to SD to visit Timmy C.

My friends are always asking me to come with them to mexico and grab lunch and drink with them. Good thing is, if I ever go...I'll only need 5 bucks for lunch.
And im sure half that stuff isnt as "clean" as it should be.....but jesus. Take a look in the back of a mc donalds...or better yet, if you've worked at a fast food joint yourself...you know that it's not the most sanitary food around.
God..I sometimes wish that I never stopped smoking the doobs. Im finally starting to find the tastiest food of my life.

Booyah! Incidently, you can find one of the best breakfast burritos by headin' down to Lucky Boy on 640 S Arroyo Pkwy in Pasadena, California - grab their breakfast burrito, and if I were you I'd even spring the extra 50 cents to have them throw a scoop of chili in with the entire strips of bacon, fried eggs, hash browns and cheese (the chili will keep the thing moist all the way through but won't overpower in flavor or texture). The thing weighs in at least a pound and is one hell of a caloric way to start the day!
> for a late night snack you cant beat the 1$ tacos at my local taco stand.
Where's your taco stand? Taco Azteca on 143 S Verdugo Rd in Glendale, California serves some dank $1 tacos. Though it's always a jive when you think that you could have THREE equally awesome tacos down in Tijuana
Mexican Food is so damn good

Yea I grew up in LA area, now I live in santa barbara area. Breakfast burritos are everywhere, and are extremely delicious. Oddly enough, theres a really good taco place in simi valley which is almost like going to Mexico, except for the price that is.

I don't know if anyone has noticed...but at least in my opinion the best mexican food isn't at the restaurants or fast food places...
it's at the mexican super mercados...i used to get some pork chicharones all the time when i was little as a "treat" but it was pretty much the best mexican food i've had in cali their carne asada tacos etc...that is, if the super mercado has a sit down food section.
