Pictures from the ECHO farm in Florida - a few oyster bags

Here's a pic from inside the ECHO growing house...
]
A few close ups on some hanging 3 foot bags (12 in lay flat diameter polytubing)
Check the icicles of spores on the bottom boquet
Here's some pinks growing outside. Just innoced the bags out in the open, under a tree, and left them outside, a few weeks later, and mushrooms popped out.
Enjoy! Jeremy Davis Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization, Inc. www.echotech.org/greta

actually I'm doing it kinda on the fly. The investment is minimal, as the equipment has been purchased over a period of time, and the facility is available free for my use commercially, because of my volunteer work on the farm for the past few years - good karma points paying off. It's definitely a lot of work, but I don't find it too strenuous. I've had a lot of trouble with setbacks and everything has a learning curve when you go from small production to a commercial production.
I'm actually going to take out the shelving in the room, and replace it with the hanging rack systems that Brainbreath from the Nook uses. It's really a genius system for optimizing space in the growing facility. That'll be done soon. We're also going to put a rack system outside as an experiment. If it works as well as I believe it will, it will be a great advantage to people in developing nations. They'll be able to grow oysters, an optimal food/medicine/protein supplement; without building a hut or facility indoors. If the spawn production is centralized for a nation or region, farmers can buy spawn bags, inoc outside, fruit outside, and harvest food for the local community in ways previously thought to be impractical or impossible. That's ECHO's real mission, feeding hungry people.
Please let me know what you think! Light and Love, Jeremy Davis Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization, Inc. www.echotech.org/greta

Hi Jeremy,
saw the announcement for your workshops in this months "mushroom growers newsletter."
I will not be able to attend personally, but I erge all folks who read this post to consider going.
Here is a quote from the article: " The workshops will cover tissue culture, spawn generation, substrate preperation, and inoculation procedures. Participants will take home spawn for almond portabella, pink and blue oyster, reishi, garden giant, and wine cap mushrooms."
In addition, nice work and photos!
cheers- norm

Cool thanks for re-posting that info! Here's who the tuition fees from the workshop really go to - my real teacher in life, Zakai
If you want to check out the .pdf file we created for the workshops, you can go to the University of Florida Extension office webpage. They have the file up on their page. It is the second link from the top on the left hand column on the page. It's got other interesting Florida a info too;

Here's a few more pics in case anyone is interested...
Here's 15 lbs of fresh oysters on it's way to the chef...
Same box different view
Here's a close up of a cluster with icicles of spores hanging off the caps;
Here's a reishi bag out in the February Florida sunshine, but only for the picture!
Here's some of our spawn jars, petri dishes, slants, and liquid cultures. Reishi, blue and pink oyster, Agaricus Blazei Murill, and Stropharia Rugosa-annulata
Enjoy, More to come later... Jeremy Davis Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization, Inc. www.echotech.org/greta

Beautifull mushrooms How do you protect the fans from spores with this mushroom? How do you protect yourself from spores? Why so many petri dishes? Are you growing tons of mushrooms per week? Are you going to try stropharia inside?
Thanks Wishing success Micololo2

Beautifull mushrooms Thank you!
How do you protect the fans from spores with this mushroom?
I haven't had much problems with spores yet...
How do you protect yourself from spores? Why so many petri dishes?
I send cultures and plates all over the world, actually some of those are your morchella plates!!!
Are you growing tons of mushrooms per week?
No, more like 100lbs. of oysters a week. The other jars are for experiments or my cultivation workshops, classes, etc.
Are you going to try stropharia inside? Nope, just outside, my market isn't begging for them, so no need to go crazy! I've got a bed 7ft by 7ft right outside my lab.
Thanks Wishing success
Thank you! We'll see how it goes! Light and Love, J
