hi i live in austin texas and i was wondering if the cubensis is still active since ive already scouted a few cow pastures earlier and was plannign on hunting tonight. are any mushrooms in season, i looked at the season list and it said for cubensis Feb-Nov, but texas weather is retarded since its like 75 in the middle of january. anybody had any luck right now? also, hutning at night time: lesser chance of getting caught but is it harder to find these shrooms? thanks, ryan.

there might be in texas if you look in the woods. it is way harder at night to find cubes unless you have been to the field before and know EXACTLY where they are growing. i would eccomend going right when the sun comes up sio the farmer wont be out yet. it is very easy for the farmer or anybody else to see a flashlight wandering around at night, alot easier then it is to see somebody hunting in the early moring when there is usally fog everywehre. however unless you come across a really good field i doubt you will find any cubes...you might find some copes though which are a little more potent

Well.. the short answer is, if it rains, they may come. I would suggest going hunting for "regular" mushrooms a few times first to get an intuition for their growth patterns, and to develop a "mushroom eye."
Once you hone your skills on some basics first, you slowly gain fragments of the home-in-on-mushrooms-like-flies-to-shit skill. You can do what you want, though, but if there is risk involved, I would reccomend a few mundane scoutings first.
I think I may be being vague here, but that's all I got.

thanks guys for your help.
also i went to a website called shroom wizard and the guy said cubes are easy to see at night. I don't understand what he means by this... "Remember, Shrooms are easily seen at nighttime. Also remember that you are easily seen during the daytime." http://www.shroomwizard.com/GGreat.html dont understand what he means by this, do they glow?

if there is a clear-as-day sky with a bright moon, you will be able to see the white on the cubes(they are still difficult to locate), but by no means are they easy to see at night. like i said, try to get out there before the sun comes up and hunt with the rising sun.
they are easy to see on very CLEAR nights if you are standing DIRECTLY over them, and you will usually only find them if you have hunted that field before and know where to look. remember, just because a field is active doesnt mean the cubes will be everywhere, they might only be in one corner of the field or scattered vewry far apart, especially this late in the season

He means areas of the pasture which are shaded by trees. Recent cold weather cube finds have been "in the woods".

well i went this morning bout 6am, it was about 50 degrees, the pasture i found was covered in cow shit, most of it dry. I searched the whole field 2 hrs, and didnt find anything. i guess its not the right time of year for now, have to wait a few months. it seemed like a healthy feild for these to grow there, but what do u guys think?
